Title: '09 shocks on '00 SERG
Post by: Rimjam on January 24, 2011, 03:38:58 PM
I upgraded my stock '00 SERG rear shocks to #54565-09 (std EG) shocks.  I'm told that I can now put up to 50 psi air in them.  Correct?

50 psi should be max.  That assumes you're riding two up with a tour pak.  Otherwise, I think you'll find it very stiff!  Remember, the newer bikes are heavier too.

The shocks will take 50 lbs but I doubt if your body can, My 00 was stiff with 25 lbs unless I was loaded down

I am running the 10 Ultra Limited Shocks on my 06, same as your 09's.  I changed the oil in the shocks to 10w Amsoil Shock Therapy & run a max of 30 lbs, 2up with the trailer.  The 09 up shocks are much better valved & with the 10w oil change they work very very well.

2up no load, 22 lbs & the bike rides great!
