Windvest 10" or Clearview Sport
« on: March 26, 2010, 03:10:36 PM »

These are the two windshields that I've been considering, and would like to know if one is any better than the other.
Thanks,
Andrew

I just saw that CV makes the sport one in 11" ( I´ve got the 9" sport - seems to be the "old" version- )
The 9" CV sport is worthless like the stock deflector in my opinion.
I also have the WV 12" ( not the 10" ) , this is a good working one but still too short for long trips .

Depending on how tall you are and how tall you sit makes a very big difference.  I am 6'4" and have the KW 12",  for me there is still too much wind buffeting but if I squat down in the seat I could imagine that it would work well for someone who was 5' 6" ish.

I realize that a 10 or 11 inch shield isn't going to block all of the wind, but either one should be better than the 8 inch klock werks I have on now. I guess the quality between the two shields is more what I am after.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Can't speak as to the Windvest, but I can tell you that the Clearview is a first class product. I have a light tint short on my Road Glide. It's 1" shorter than a stock Harley shield, but protects you better. The hardware, and gasket (different than H.D.'s) that are included with the shield are first rate. The shield itself is thicker (no buffeting). The recurve that is built in to the shield works amazingly, and it still looks cool too. Jim at Clearview is the best. He can help you to decide which shield is right for you. I was concerned that the short would be too short. After speaking with Jim, he assured me that it would be the best choice for my application. He was 100% correct. I absolutely love it. It completely blows the Klock Werks away.

Cheers, Ken  8)

I mounted the 14" Windvest yesterday.  Quality is great, clarity is better than stock.  Shield is 2.5" shorter then stock RG shield, and protects the same.  Looks great on the bike.

Great price and customer service.  Very satisfied,.

I have what looks to be the shorter KW.  How do you measure the height of the windshield?

Thanks.

Klock Werks measures their shields from the bottom edge to the top edge in the center of the shield.

If yo're still open to other screens, consider the CB.  Great look and functionality, made in USA, great warranty too.

Boy, I've think I've yet to hear anything bad about the Windvest- I'd love to get away with the 10", but I figure 12" would be good for sure.

Dan, you like the 14"- how tall are you, and what kind of seat do you use?

The National Cycle V Stream looks pretty good too, though....

The only windshield that will block "ALL" the wind is a Toyota, but you can't control the speed  :nixweiss:
