Title: Oil temp gauge gone nuts
Post by: Rimjam on September 16, 2020, 02:53:35 PM
Installed an oil temp gauge in place of the air temp gauge in the '00 SERG about a year ago. Recently the gauge has started jumping to over 110 f as soon as I turn the switch on and never goes past 190 f.  In trying to troubleshoot the problem & see if it's the gauge or sending unit I discover that I can't remember how to disconnect the wire from the sending unit.  It's pretty tight under there & I don't want to break anything.  Anyone out there with the answer?

Should be a single tab on the connector to press and pull to remove.
Using a jumper wire and briefly touching one of the wires to ground should cause the gauge to peg if it is good.

Is the tab on the wire end of the connector or on the sending unit part?  Press tab toward center or pull outward?

Tabs on the connector. You may have to press it or lift the tab and pull.
