They came into me as BMP files and I could not attach those, so I tried to convert to something that I could post here. Evidently I was in way over my head (which would take very little depth)

MJ, Ramirez was always the odd man out at the LA Times.  Just because he a Pulitzer and a Mencken Award didn't mean he fit their editorial mold.  When the paper got even safer and mushier he was just more than could fit in their ideal of how they would proceed.

He'd been six or seven years at the time it happened in 2005.  Long enough to read the tea leaves and know the paper was shifting yet again.  And, as quality generally does, he landed on his feet.  His biggest surprise most likely wasn't getting fired there (as he never fit there anyway), it was getting hired there to begin with.

There you go Don, once again my hero.

He used to be here at The Memphis Commercial Appeal and was wildly popular and never politically correct but I knew with his talent he would graduate to a much bigger market. I was in Boca on a elevator at a resort when he got on, we looked at each other for a few seconds and finally one of us asked "don't I know you?" We had met several times here in Memphis and he said he was there for the editorial cartoonist convention. He was too modest to mention he was being presented their most prestigious award and at that time the youngest person ever to be awarded that honor. What is even more amazing, this association is 99% flaming liberals somewhere left of Jesse Jackson.

I've always admired excellent editoral cartoonists (without regard to their particular perspective or beat).  One of my favorite anecdotes highlighting my own severe limitations was a writing task I was hired to do.  They wanted an opinion conveyed in a very particular way.  And they wanted it done in a manner that could be delivered before a crowd in three minutes.

It was complex.  It was a concept of layers and deep reasoning.  I couldn't write to fit in 180 seconds and still keep it as anything short of a bludnerbuss that informed while making also making the prospective audience feel like it was getting kicked in the nuts.  Five minutes allowed for subtle, three just didn't on this one.  At least not with my skill set. 

So as the task's principal and I are going back and forth on his delivery, and he's getting more and more frustrated, and I'm getting more and more frustrated, and we're beginning to say rude things toward one another about his view of my writing skills and my views on his oratorical miscegeny we both almost simultaneously noticed a political cartoon on the topic at hand.  Two words.  One picture.  It did it all.  We both shut up and moved on to the next task.

That's true.  But it's also true that the "truth" can't instruct, inform or change anyone's mind if they don't listen to it.  That's where the delivery comes in (sometimes).
