Strange how a shared resource is handled so differently by the various governments involved.  Here in Northwest Indiana many rely on Lake Michigan for drinking water (you don't want to deal with the lovely well water :P).  Unfortunately, if you live just a mile too far south and are located outside of the Lake Michigan watershed area, you cannot tap into water from the lake.  The theory is that water from the lake should find it's way back to the lake.  And now I read this crap about gazillions of gallons of fresh water being lost due to man-made BS over on the other side of Michigan.  Looks to me like we need something to plug up the leak; I suggest we start with all the bureaucrats who allowed this fiasco.  Just stack 'em up like cord wood and shove 'em in the breach.

There's actually something called the International Joint Commission between the US and Canada that negotiated a water rights treaty close to a hundred years ago.  It's supposed to keep the sides from allowing things like this.

Our vocabulary builder word of the day is "desalinization". Cause we're running out of the good stuff. ;)

But, thanks to the melting ice caps, we will eventually have a lot more of the salty stuff.

I lost a really good watch in Lake Michigan, off Navy Pier in Chicago in 1981. Could someone call me when you see the bottom?
