Yeah, think about it: Every tax dollar everybody on this board has ever paid, and ever will pay just went ka-blammo.  A cool plane, but $1.2B would build quite a few nearly as capable ones, and I'm kind of a B-36 guy anyway: magnesium overcast.  Kind of like bikes some people build - afraid to ride them when they are done for fear of getting it scratched.

If you think it's the journey not the destination you don't live in Nebraska.

truly an amazing ( invisible) airplane

if you have ever seen one fly, it is the wildest thing around......  i shudder to consider the price....  its gotta be about a months base pay for 2Lane!

Yeah, but I ten-fold tithe my B2 allocation to the Democrats for Social Action Short Bus Transportation Fund.

I've been on Whiteman before and seen the beastie leave the ground.  I readily admit to not being an aerodynamacist by any means.  But I at least understand old Mr. Bernoulli and for the life of me can't figure out how that thing doesn't have the glide ratio of a well thrown rock.  Weird aircraft indeed.  Very cool.  Love having the mission capability if it were ever really needed.  But a weird aircraft indeed.

Big news around here, built here in the Antelope Valley, I have many friends and neighbors that work on them. Pure American flying power. One of my neighbors (about 5 houses away) was one of the test pilots. One of my best riding buddy's was the last to check instrumentation before handing the planes over to testing. Was lucky enough to watch the maiden flight out of plant 42 to Edwards AFB July 17, 1989, that was a once in a lifetime sight, will it fly? It did and when we lose one it hurts. Glad the pilots are safe. Clear skies and long life.  Dave
