Didn't stop to read the article.  But this headline was among the AP feed that streamed through this afternoon.  Was reporting out of Mexico somewhere.

"Woman riding a donkey fights off lion with machete"

Can't help but wonder.  Why does a lion need a machete anyway ?

"ACAPULCO, Mexico - A Mexican woman said she fought a 500-pound lion with a machete near the resort city of Acapulco and scared him away. Celsa Aleman said she and her 7-year-old niece were riding a donkey Monday along a road when the lion went after the animal's legs.

The 35-year-old woman says she found the courage to fight the lion because she thought it would attack her niece. She hit the animal with a machete until the beast ran away. Aleman and her niece were unharmed.

The state government said in a statement that the lion had escaped from a private zoo owned by a former local congressman.

It said the animal killed two dogs and ate a pig before it was sedated and taken back to the zoo."




Apparently the lion needed it to kill 2 dogs & a pig.  I would like to see that congressman zoo in Mexico sometime.

Oy, if I had to live with a Congressman I'd be in a bad enough mood I'd want to escape and eat people too.

The lions here in Canada are tougher than the ones in Mexico... they don't need no stinking machetes!!!

It's obvious, haven't you watched Lion King?  If Mufasa had a machete, Scar would never had been able to pull off the crap he did.

this mule didn't need any help.  She needed the machete to protect herself from the mule!

That last picture is great for the dogs in the background.  Dogs sitting at a safe distance and watching the mule kick beat the cat.  You just know the dogs are thinking "yeah, kick his ass!"
