yeah, I noted that possibility earlier...It may still have one, just not yet identified.  Once Garmin posts the Manual we will know for sure...

It doesn't look as though the Zumo has an audio out jack.  I assume that it does the wireless thing to the radio?

Saw somewhere that the audio out question was asked of Garmin.  While rumor, there is no audio out from the unit itself...it will either be part of the included mount or a pigtail off the power cable...I believe the one from the 2730/2820 is mono so I hope they make it a stereo connector.

Again, this is all rumor and conjecture.

Also, when you look at the large pics of the zumo, the buttons appear to be more functional than the 2730...specifically, I like that they have a + and a - and assume that they allow for zooming.  Zooming on the 2730 while riding is next to impossible with the touch screen.

Specs from 2820....output jack is stereo.  Also, the touch screen for zooming in and out is not a problem to use...I've never used the 2730, so don't know if it's different or not.  The Zumo specs do not mention a stereo out, but it does have MP3, so I don't see how it could help but have some kind of stereo output, even if it was just a headphone jack of 2.5mm...you could still adapt to the aux input on the bike.  But, the 2820 has a headphone/other selector on the menu, so it can go into an aux input.  Not knocking the Zumo here just because I bought the 2820 just before they announced the Zumo, but the 3.5mm audio out is a big deal, at least to me.  The fuel gauge feature would be "nice", but I reset the odometer anyway.

2820 Specs:

Receiver: WAAS-enabled 12 parallel channel GPS
Display: 3.3” W x 1.7” H (3.8” diag.), 454 x 240 pixels; bright, automotive-grade 64K color TFT with automatic dimming backlight and touch screen
Unit dimensions: 5.6" W x 3.2" H x 2.0" D
Weight: 0.91 pounds (411 g)
Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free calling and navigation audio prompts
Supports FM TMC traffic alerting
XM NavTraffic capabilities
Preloaded maps for all of North America or Europe
Voice announces streets by name
Look up addresses and points of interest
Choose 2D or 3D map perspective
Fingertip touch-screen interface and remote control
Upload custom POIs, including alerts for speed zones, safety cams, and LPG filling stations
Built-in MP3 and audio book player
Waterproof: IEC 60529 IPX7 standards (submersible in one meter of water for up to 30 mins.)
2.5 mm microphone input & 3.5 mm stereo headphone/line-out jack
Improved track log with 10,000 track log points

Specs for Zumo (no mention of any audio out or mic in connections):

High-sensitivity GPS receiver
Display: 2.8” W x 2.1” H (3.5” diag.), 320 x 240 pixels; high bright sunlight-readable, UV-resistant, touch screen display
Unit dimensions: 4.8" W x 3.9" H x 1.6" D
Weight: 10.6 ounces
Removable lithium-ion battery; three hour typical use
Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free calling and navigation audio prompts
Supports optional FM TMC traffic alerts
Supports optional XM NavTraffic with XM weather, and XM Satellite Radio
Preloaded maps for all of North America or Europe
Voice announces streets by name
Look up addresses and points of interest
Choose 2D or 3D map perspective
Upload custom POIs, including alerts for speed zones and safety cameras
Built-in MP3 player and JPEG Picture Viewer
SD card expansion makes it easy for storage and route sharing
Export and review your travels in Google™ Earth with a free account from MotionBased.com
Glove-friendly touch screen with left-handed controls makes it easy to operate
Sunlight-readable, UV-resistant display makes it easy to view your screen
Motorcycle console for trip information, including fuel gauge to warn you when its time to fill up
Motorcycle mount with standard 4-hole AMPS pattern so you can mount it anywhere
Included motorcycle mount for riding and automotive mount (with integrated speaker) for driving
Includes Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature
Custom caps, available in a variety of colors, to reflect your style
Waterproof: IEC 60529 IPX7 standards (submersible in one meter of water for up to 30 min.)

Display on the 2820 is wider, but not quite as tall...pixel counts are different too, and don't seem to account for the differenecs in screen dimensions.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
The battery backup on the Zumo is a nice feature, as is the AMPs pattern...wonder what kind of RAM mount it comes with?

I was referring to the Jack on the power cable of the 2730...I do not know if it is stereo...the jack on the unit itself is stereo...as on the 2820.

The zoom is the same on the 2730 and the 2820...buttons would just be easier.  with gloves, it is too easy to miss the + or - sign on the screen at which point it assumed you intended to touch that location and it presents the north up map view.

From my understanding, the power cable 2.5mm is not stereo...though there are some work-arounds, but it's a visit to radio shack to make it 4 speaker, and 3.5mm.

It's strange that there's MP3 on the Zumo and no mention of an stereo audio out....

I know of some riders that have super glued a nub on the index finger of their glove to get better control of the GPS screen functions.

I wonder if using the patch cord method going from a garmin 2720 to the aux plug on the bike radio means you can't listen to the radio and hear the directions at the same time? I would guess you wuld have to decide which was more important and either listen to tunes or directions.

And I always thought something like a roosters spur on the back of my left boot would help shifting with the heel!

The SP III is still agood unit except for the slow route calculation times as compared to the newer units.

I think you gotta' decide VA...I figure in those places where I don't know where in the he!! I am, I'll switch to AUX and let the nice lady talk to me.  However, I think if I load MP3 files on the GPS and am running it through the AUX, the lady might override.  I've been struggling with making friggin' MP3 files this past weekend for a "Bike Tunes" CD for the HK radio...but finally figured out what I have to do, so now I'll load the GPS with as many as it will hold, then I'll know for sure.
