Security System Pager
« on: July 29, 2006, 08:57:02 PM »

Looking at the pager for the 06 model security system (Siren II, if I'm not mistaken)...has anyone used this item?  If so, what are your impressions?  The other question is since I have two 06's, both with the same security system, and both programed with the same security personal code number, would ONE pager work for both bikes?  I don't see a reason for it not to, but just wondering if anyone would know for sure.

Sleeping in the hotel room at night, or with the bike parked outside my building at work (four floors down), it would be comforting to know if/when somebody is screwing around with the bike. [smiley=nervous.gif]

Terry, double check and I'll think you'll find the 06s have the "Smart Siren" and not the "Siren II" system.  So if you want to use the remote pager from the Siren II system you'll have to change the alarm module/transmitter as well.  The remote receiver for the Siren II systems lock on to a specific transmitter; and only one transmitter.  So while you could use more than one receiver to receive signals from one bike you could not signal multiple bikes to one receiver.

Don...I misread the PA book...I thought that if the bike chirped when you armed the security system, it had the II version of the siren...do the pre 06's chirp as well?  Don't know anyone who has one, so have no basis for comparison.  I'll have to do a bit more research on this, then decide if it's all worth it....normally, I'm not very far from the bike, but at work I am, so just looking for a bit more peace of mind, though the place where all the bike riders park is out in the wide open, but a lot of foot traffic up and down the sidewalk...I park it in a small enclave on the sidewalk, as do a couple of other riders...out of the way of pedestrians (we have a lot of visually impaired people around UAB because of the VA Hospital being right acrosss the street from my building), but if somebody wanted to sit on the bike or something, they could.

It would particularly be nice at large events, like Daytona, though I've never been to anything like that.

Thanks for the heads up!!

Not sure about the support of 2 systems but, the range on this one is much better than the older one I had on my Heritage.  Never worked for me at work but the newer one does.  You need to set the sensitvity to High as default I believe is medium.  It doe not take much to get it to chirp at you if you jostle the bike a bit.  The FOB will either chirp or vibrate.  Don't forget to turn it off when not in use.  I already used up a battery in 6 months as I forgot to shut it off. When I changed the security code (the 5 digit one you do when you do the whole turn signal set-up) on both the bikes tonight, and re-set the key fobs on both bikes, I can get either bike's fob to operate the other one's security system, that's what was making me think I might get by with one pager...though I guess the transmitter component has little to do with the ability to set both bikes up for the same codes.  I'm not very enlightened on the subject of transmitters, but probably will be before this is over.   ;)

Terry,
For what it's worth, my 06 chirps twice when I arm it and once when I disarm it.
