110'' cvo
« on: April 26, 2017, 04:13:07 PM »

Hi,
I have cvo rk 14' , with gmr 577 cam, TH exhaust ... went 2 weeks ago to Arizona bike week. What I noticed when is hot and running in stop and go traffic. If I sit at stop light and bike is in neutral some weird noise is coming from engine , looks like when there is a lot of chain tension and when engine turns some dole knocking I can hear and if I rev engine it goes away. It is hard to describe that but bike ran good no issue coming back  to CA. Any idea anyone experience that on their bike... tnx

Have you ever heard the, hell I can't remember the name of it now, but the thing where one cylinder turns off.  It will make a different sound, and it stops if you rev the motor.

If you opposite end of right turn signal it shows the oil pressure and some other things, at the bottom it shows the name of the thing I am thinking of.  If it says enable it isn't operating, but if it says active and you year the sound that is the one cylinder being turned off to try and help keep the motor cool while sitting still.

It's normal. EITMS. Turn it off if you don't want it.

You need to get a proper tune to get to the root cause and fix that.

Had the same issue this past year in Rocky Point, Mexico; hot day and a lot of stop and go. I thought the motor was about to go.  Found out about one cylinder shutting down system on our air cooled motors at a certain temp.  Basically a built in cooling fan.  All good!

Well I was thinking that it must be running too hot at idle and the eitms was kicking in and neither of my last twin cams do that and they are tuned, but if Bob tuned it then I will pull my head in and say I don't know as he would of tuned all of the tables.
