My daughter has an '08 Street Glide that she asked me to change the fluids for her while she was out of town.
Her husband said, when he rode the bike over to my place for me to change the fluids, there is a noise in the primary case that sounds odd.
I told him that it sounds like the compensator needs replacing.
I changed the fluids and fired the bike up and the noise was still there as I suspected it would be.
I drained the primary and removed the cover.
The noise sounds more like it may be in the clutch pack or transmission rather than the compensator. The clutch cable was recenty replaced but I don't think that could be the cause of the noise. It sounds like metal on metal and a clunking sound when you turn the engine off.
My question is, can the problem still be the compensator and the noise transmitting back to the clutch pack area through the primary chain?
Doesn't sound feasible, but thought I would ask just in case.
Your replies are greatly appreciated.
