Front turn signals
« on: May 17, 2017, 02:51:53 PM »

OK, LOVED custom Dynamics turn signals on '11 SERGU so bought them for the '16 SERGU. I removed the bullet covers and there is no longer a bulb, looks like a flat ring of LED's I have tried to turn the ring to remove it, tried pushing it in and turning it and tried to just pull it out. A search on issue on Google brought up changing a bulb on every other bike, but not the 16' SERGU

Anyone have a clue on how to get that stock LED lamp out?

Thanks in advance

OK, both I and HD did it again. I found the answer to my question before anyone posted and HD screwed up in providing the correct part. Make sure HD sells you the Custom Dynamics part GEN-200-AW-JAE, NOT GEN-200-AW-1157, the 1157 is for non CVO bikes

After you have the correct part, look for the installation video here

https://www.customdynamics.com/Installation_Videos.htm

very helpful. You need to remove the turn signal housing, but looks pretty easy

Yes, it's got a rubber sleeve on the led's, just pull it straight out. I used a blade screwdriver and levered it out.

Thanks, did you find enough room to unplug the LED without taking the housing off?

A question, why are you replacing the LED's with LED's? Since the bike came with LED lighting from the factory.
Just curious.

Check out the Custom Dynamic turn signals, they are awesome they shine a bright white as running lights and then turned to Amber when you turn a directional on. The stock HD turn signals are only Amber all the time. Don't think they light the road up too much more but you can certainly see them from a lot further away and it looks awesome at night. They now also sell 1 that has LEDs around the outside and amber LEDs inside and the outside always stays on and the Amber comes on only when you turn the directional on.

These people make really nice parts and they really helpful if you have any questions. I would've fumbled with the lights I bought for 3 hours not knowing Harley had sold me the wrong parts until I called and spoke to a rep at Custom Dynamics

+100 for Dustom Dynamics
I did the dynamic rings for my front signals when I put my apes on. Left them in the stock location for a little extra "can you see me now?" up high. Something I think we can all say is usually a good thing

I took the fairing off, but at least the connectors are easy to get to.

I understand the change mode lighting from Custom Dynamics. Had one of the original sets when Dave introduced them many years ago and still have them in my '15. But wouldn't, personally, change one set of LED's for another no matter the hook. But to each his own. Enjoy them.

I installed these!  Love them.  Only wished that they did gloss black rather than flat black

See before, after and directional on pics.

Love the look, worth the $100 IMO
