Title: 131 Very Happy
Post by: Pan1 on April 20, 2021, 09:14:37 PM
Just got my bike with the SE 131 kit. Used Fullsac head pipe , Fullsac 2.25 baffles in CVO muffler housing, SE ported 64mm intake a K&N air filter kit. SE street tuner and auto tune. 131 HP and 137 torque. Plenty of low end power and although the motor is not fully broke in yet, it pulls strong all the way to 6,200. The dyno  pulls were made in 4th gear.

If I knew how to upload the dyno chart I would be happy to share.

EDIT**  Wayne I was able to convert it to JPG and post it for you......here it is.

Yup, I had a blast with mine on the 2017 cvo limited. Not sure I’m going to do it again on my 2021 since the 117 runs great as is.

Have to agree, I still have to slow down or wait for the “under powered” bikes to keep up in headwinds or up the mountain grades! Should have stayed with my 117”

Had a local shop tell me today to stay away from the 131 says motors are blowing up & they run extremely HOT. I told him i haven't heard of those complaining that have the 131. He stated we live in So. Texas and its already hot here. Any truth to this crap.?? Everyone that has done the 131 seems happy with it..

Alan (SDCVO) posted this a couple days ago...
my 131 kit I put in a few months ago blew up (under warranty thank God..) so got bike back yesterday afternoon. Did my 500 mile break-in ride today so next week can get the oil changed and check it all out so next weekend I can start really having fun with it again! Last couple hundred miles today though I wasn't ripping it, I was pushing it up to 4K and seems to be running great. Will be glad to not have to look at the tach next weekend for sure.
Yes, my butt is sore..
When asked what happened to it he replied....
Fried the piston and all that goes along with that--

Interesting. There’s always gonna be a bad apple in the bunch.  Not sure what if any I’m gonna do.

A lot depends on where you ride and how.

I split off from the club Sunday after a long ride through the mountains, rarely got out of third or fourth gear. Hit the I-15 about 60 miles from home and tried to keep up with the traffic.
Did 90-100 the entire way and was passed by more than a few cars/trucks. Pretty scary with my BSR hanging on. Nice thing about big torque is ability to leave it in high and just twist the wick and accelerate with no problem. No problem now to bury the speedo but very rarely ride that fast.
Just keeping up with the flow of traffic.

So to be fair I do ride very hard (used to chasing JC around..). with that said I also have a 12 CVO RG with a S&S 124 crate in it with over 30000 miles on the motor and no issues. I do think the 131 problem was a one off but it does run hotter than the 124. I also will say the 131 runs better than the 124 which absolutely surprised mw after I got it tuned. I have posted the dyne sheets but the 124 has 142 tq and 131 HP, the 131 has 152 TQ and 137 HP. Both have smooth curves but definitely a difference in the 131. Worth the little bit of extra heat assuming of course the issue was a one off!

That'll be enough of that kind of talk young man.......I'm a dainty rider! :P

Well JC I spent the weekend riding with you on a stock rented bike and could not keep up!!

Alan does you 131 have an oil cooler? I put the Oil Bud on my blown 124 and its helps in hot weather!

I put the Harley fan assisted cooler on but I don't ride stop and go very often and don't think the cooler helps much at speed

My 131 is not fully broke in but it does seem to run Hot and the outside temp is only in the low 80's. It is a Twin Cooled and the fans come on rather quickly. You can definitely feel the heat. I do not know  about how long these motors last but you do not have to run it hard to go fast. The low end power is amazing and while I have only turned it loose a couple of times it makes power all the way to the rev limiter which is about 6,400.

I am using the SE street tuner and auto tune. When the HD tech connected the bike to the laptop we noticed there are cells in the low RPM range with retarded timing that can be changed. Since the motor was new and we only made 2 dyno pulls as a shakedown we did not change  them. I suspect changing these from the -4 to a 1-2 advance would help with heat at idle.

My dyno chart is posted in this thread.

Hey may I ask if you deviated from the stock 131 kit? Your numbers are great especially the torque. Harley website doesn’t show anything near 152 torque for the 131 kit?
