Cheap asses kept the doors off of them this year. Yet another thing to save money by deleting and charging more. Just like the (starting in '16) rear turn signal light bar, CB on the non CVO, heel shifter, one key fob, etc.....

There's a kit available to add them back in for around $270.

Just waiting on the people to justify MoCo's decision by saying that they never get closed anyway. The point is, for those of us that use them, they took away that feature that used to be standard  :sauer055:    :soapbox:

Currently riding third HD that had the doors, never rode with any of them closed. So I wouldn't miss the doors at all, BUT they should have been a price reduction if they took them away, which there wasn't.  I took the doors off the 05 & the 09 to get more air so if it comes without them would be OK for me.

Pretty sure we're talking about the two side  vent doors in the upper fairing, not the lower fairings.

Sent from my boring Droid phone.

I added lowers to my 18 SERG to mainly help with wind management but the added features of being able to add lower speakers if I want and close the vent doors on cold or rainy days up here in the great northwest is a major plus.
Rode home yesterday over Stevens Pass. It was raining pretty hard so I closed my vent doors and kept my lower legs and feet dry as a bone. I for one would miss them.

Well if that's the case....nevermind! Although on very cold days I have closed them as well.  :confused5:

No CVO RG this year so I looked at the blacked out RG limited.  Can anyone explain why the motor company decided to eliminate the lower fairing vent doors? I open and close mine frequently and I can not imagine why they would eliminate them.

Wait ....I just looked at a 2020 and it did not look like the upper fairing  open and closes?????  That would suck on cold days in the Midwest.......

Well you live in FL, not much need to close the lower Fairing doors.  Living in TN, and riding year round in 20 degree weather those doors get closed.  Mine are used often.  Many others on here live in colder climates where closing the lower fairing doors is a big help.  When its below 55 degrees I always choose the bike with lowers.

I was asking about the upper fairing side vents. Is there a kit to install doors?  Do the lower twin cool fairings still have doors to open and Close? I live in the SE and open and close both frequently. I always thought the air flow control on a RG was an added benefit.

I've not seen anyone post any pix or part numbers to add the doors back into the upper fairing although someone else posted there's a kit for about $270 to add them back in. Lower twin cool fairings remain untouched as they still have the doors.

Ditto.  I kept mine open in 90 plus heat but most of the time I rode with them closed.

However, whether you ride with them open or closed all the time, the fact is the upper fairing doors are gone on the 2020 bikes so you have no choice.  I can't tell by the pictures on the website if the lowers still have the vent or not (twin cooled or not).

Doing a search on the website and interweb, can't find any option for the above mentioned upper fairing door kit...not saying it's not available, just can't find it.

So if I want a heel shifter and vent doors I need a 2019, and if I want heated grips I get a 2020?

or you buy whichever one you want and add the items that you want.  it looks like about $200 to buy the parts for the vented ducts.

Thanks. I can do without a heel shifter, but I need those vent doors.

Work it into the sale that they install them.

I spoke to the local dealer today. They think the whole inner fairing would have to be changed out.

Would be interesting to see. I looked at one the other day and it just looks like filler doors on the inner. Without tearing one apart ourselves, we won't know for sure.

I looked at a 2020 RG Limited today. Vents look the same. If I get it I'd like to have them add the doors for me. I guess we'll find out next week.
