'02 Candy Brandywine SERK Mod's
« on: March 22, 2010, 12:31:19 AM »

Here is the link to a few recent mod's and upgrades:
  http://www.01cobra.com/02SERK_pg1.html

Recent upgrades have focused on lighting.  The need to see and be seen will be vital during the upcoming 7,000+ mile trip.   :coolblue:

I have a larger Clearview Shield ordered. Although, the 22" Light Tint with Recurve has served me well.  :2vrolijk_21:

Prior to departing in mid-June I will install the Lyndall Z-Plus Brake Pads that are waiting on the shelf.

Looks great Charlie.  Can't wait to meet the bike.

I'm a fan of the Lindby guard also.  Had it on my last Road King and it's part of the project for the current SERK's eventual build.  Lookin' good :2vrolijk_21: .

Looking good Charlie. Looking at some lighting options myself. Of course the motor will remain stock!?!?  :nixweiss:

What lights are you guys considering?  I've got mine locked on my head but open to options.

Planning on keeping signals on the bars but using the flamed housings and chrome mount hardware.  For aux lighting and visibility using the HD fog light housing withwire internal on a Lindby front bar. Used those lights and bar in combination on my last Road King and was a combo I liked.

Have thought about the Headwinds light mount and flamed light for spots instead. Just think I'll like this look better.

I rather old fashion. I like the original HD passing lights with the clear bulbs. I'm putting in a clear 1 bulb HD headlight. I'm debating the old flat turn signals or the new bullet style. Already have the FLTR style rear turn signal bracket on her.

I rode with the single stock headlight for more than a year.  I then had the single headlight with the upgraded lamp for several weeks.  It is a 30% improvement, minimum, over the stock lamp.  :2vrolijk_21:
Adding the passing lamps definitely increased peripheral depth.  I am pleased with the result but, there is an option on order for the main lamp.  I will share the outcome, once it arrives.

For headlight I'll have the dual lamp housing and dual HID. Might still do spots along with the HD aux lights on the Lindby bars. Had that combination on the last Road King. Would commonly get flashed even while on low beam. The fog/aux lamps cast even wider than the spots. Not as deep but wider. Especially on a bike without HID it made for a decent combination.

  Option for headlamp arrived Thursday.
  Installed Thursday night.
Test rides and adjustments made Thursday and Friday nights.
Photos and details entered today, over lunch.  (Still finishing my second brat with 'kraut and mustard)   :2vrolijk_21:
  Here it is:
  http://www.01cobra.com/02SERK_pg5.html

Initially, I was concerned about the increased load / wattage.  But, my buddy in Las Vegas has used these bulbs for two-plus years on his '01 Fat Boy and '04 RK with no problems.   :coolblue:

Be safe. Ride often,
Charlie

Following two attempts with, "more attractive mounts," (insert jokes here) I decided the RAM Mount, (insert more jokes) is the most flexible.  (Okay, please keep the jokes to yourself)  :huepfenlol2:

Here is my SPOT 2 Satellite Messenger with the RAM Handlebar Mount:

The RAM installation instructions show the U-bolt inverted, from what is shown in my photo, causing the unit to be taller and much more exposed.  (I asked you to keep the jokes to yourself)  This was not my preference.   ;D
