changing/options sound system - CVO 2012
« on: February 20, 2023, 02:00:45 PM »

Good day everyone,  I'm looking for guidance for a CVO street glide 2012 ... A friend give me 2 pairs of HERTZ MPX165.3 PRO Coaxial 6-1/2" 2-Way 4 Ohm Speaker. Figure I installed them in fairing and lowers, I would like to upgrade Amp, I was looking at the Hertz SP4.900 with proper wire harness... my question, do I need to change stock HD radio ( I will when budget permits ) but wondering if it will work for now?  Also what about 2nd amp in bags running the 6 x 9 , can I leave it for now? I'm looking for a plug and play solution for Amp with stock radio...thank you for your input.  Mig

Go to Volunteer Audio.com they sell bypass plugs for your system to change the amp and speakers to utilize the factory radio.

No need to change radio unless you want more features. I had a 2013 cvo road glide with a similar stock setup. Back then, I switched the head unit to the Aquatics bt unit, put a 4 channel amp in the fairing and got rid of the saddlebag amp, upgraded the speakers to Focals at the time. You have a lot more choices these days.

I 2nd Volunteeraudio.com.  I would recommend a new Head Unit to maximize the audio quality into and out of amp.  Sounds like Sound stream has a new head unit in the works for up to 13 bikes.

It's out and available for the RG. SG radio is in the way. Not sure what the difference is though. A member in here already did one in His '13 CVORG.
