Title: Map update year and general Sirus radio update question
Post by: bakon on July 20, 2019, 12:19:00 PM
2014 CVO Limited-

updated map once in 2017 to map NACVO-MY2016.

Today I go to NAV Extra site- sign in and tells  me I got an update- doesn't say what...download and put it on the bike

Map is now HMNA-2016-Q2.

Is this the most recent map Harley offers or is this system just left behind with the new infotainment system?

Second question...anyone getting XM radio for free after canceling? Done an update while on the free status? kept the free status still?  Asking for a guy down the street...

I checked last week and NA 2018 is the latest map available for North America. i haven’t seen the system list different quarterly updates. In my experience, when the subscription expires with SiriusXM, the only station available is the preview station.

Where can a check the list of maps of most recent. The app I downloaded from Navi extras just tells me I am up to date. The map name I got from the bike info, not the site

In that case, you may not have completed the upload to the bike. Check the file name in the thumb drive and see what it says.

Bike said it was done.  I wrote down the map And other info before I started and checked again at the end. Figured the one name had cvo in it so made some sense but the Q2 in the other name without cvo threw me off. The site does list a nacvo-my2018
Found it.  Let me try this again

Downloaded info from bike again. Navi extras toolbox app says needs an update. Do it. Much faster this time. Still same map.
Format usb, download again. Run toolbox again. Another update but this time when it runs to usb  it says done....check available maps...want $159.99 for NACVO -MY2018.  Click on it and says I already got it and subscribed till Sep 2020!

Map on bike definite not called that.  HMNA-2016-Q2

Try to contact with email but only a phone number open central time weekdays.  Wait till tomorrow

Google map name.
Hd forums had this:
As I am sure you all know as CVO owners we get 3 free updates over 5 years to the Nav Maps. I decided to go ahead and do that since each one is worth ~150.00. Just wanted to give a heads up on what I found.

The "fingerprint" I took from the bike DB was "NACVO-MY2017" When I synced this to the NaviExtras Toolbox it showed there was an update to be had and an install button. It does not show what the update was though. If you go to "shop" from the toolbox under North America it shows that the latest is "NACVO-MY2018". Makes perfect sense then that this is what downloads when you click install.

However, after the unit was updated the Maps DB name shows "HMNA 2016 Q2". I found this to be a bit weird. So I took another "fingerprint" (Export of the DB) and ran it through the toolbox and it indeed stated "your device is up to date."

I called Harley support to ask why the naming scheme is different on the update and here is the answer. "For some reason they failed to name it "NACVO-MY2018" but instead named it after the actual map file name of "HMNA 2016 Q2" which indicates the actual date of the map updates. Apparently they are 2 years behind, in other words it takes two years after the update to create the actual available update for the units.

Just wanted to put this out there in case others had questions.

Just FYI. Did this update and evidently they updated the filename as seen by the picture of software info after update completed.

The last map update issued for the Boom Box 6.5 was for 2018 model year bikes. However the actual map data used is from 2016 Q2. This is because it takes Harley almost 2 years to process the map data for loading into new bikes. There was a software update to the Boom Box a while ago that changed the way the map data was displayed. If you update your software the map version will change to show MY2018 but it will still be map data that was produced in Q2 2016. Also HD has decided not to issue any 2019 map updates for the 6.5 Boom Box so it will be interesting to see what happens when the 2020 bikes come out shortly
