If no one has experienced any problems with interference from the ballasts, I'm strongly considering getting a hidden antenna and I'm open for any suggestions.  One thing for sure, the HID's will not be removed from the SERG.

I recently installed a hidden antenna inside my fairing, it seems to be pretty good, I think I loose a little bit of reception, but not enough to notice a difference in the stations I listen to!!  I purchased the antenna from Kuryakyn, I think I paid $25 or so for it.....worth it for sure.

If you figure it out let us know. With my HID lights I basically have no CB transmission or reception ability unless the other bike is within 50 feet.

Some of the hidden antennas need power.  Having the same power source might be a different situation than using the non powered hidden antennas. I use the Tune Trapper $39 sold through Kuryakyn/ Drag Spec. It works very well.

Is the Tune Trapper a powered one?  And do you also have HID Headlights?  Thanks

I have HIDs and no radio problems, but I do not have the hidden ant.

The tune trapper is not powered, and I have the stock HD headlight.  It seems to work quite well mounted on top of my HW amp in my fairing.

I posed this question to the folks at Dakota Digital.  Cameron Anderson responded, "While we haven't seen this setup before we would guess that the ballast are going to emit a fair amount of interference.  With that said we can not say what effect it will have on the ANT2000".

Well I guess I'll start with a non-powered one and do my own R&D.  My lovely wife said I should ask the other guys on the forum were else I could stick it.  I said "Honey, you really don't want to go there".

HAHA well let us know what you find out, I am thinking about a HID light myself.

I have installed HID's and the Tune Trapper in many bikes without issue.

I installed the HID on my 2008 FLHX.  I had a DAKOTA DIGITAL electronic antenna module under the fairing.  Because the HID module generates a huge amount of radio interference. I disconnected the fairing antenna and purchased an antenna relocation kit from Harley Davidson and reinstalled the original whip antenna behind the bike.  This puts extra distance between the HID module and the antenna which allows me to pick up most radio stations without interference.  The weak ones don't really matter anyway.  This will most likely not improve the CB issue though

By profession I am a two way radio communications specialist and I will try to design an interference suppression scheme.  When I do, I will communicate this to the forum. But since I prefer to ride this may take a while.

on my 08 tr i have hid lights(two required) with a dakota digital ant, no interference at all. i do however listen to my i-pod or xm mostly. my dakota ant is okay but i'd try another brand such as tunetrapper if i was going that route again. my 09 i just whacked off the stock ant for clearence when i have the tourpak on.

Thanks to all, good info.  I've ordered the Tune Trapper TT2C2 so we will soon see.  Also ordered a "Y" cable/connector to keep the antenna cable to the rear intact.  That way if I want or need the short whip when the tour-pak is off it won't be a big deal.

Just for the record. I have the tourpack. I bought the HD antenna relocation kit which allows the use of the antenna whip with the toorpack.  PART # 76208-07  it mount even lower than the stock location.

I'm considering wrapping my HID ballasts and wire out of the ballasts to the bulbs with 3M 420 lead tape. Possibly using the same tape to put on the CB module and CB antenna lead wire in the fairing area. Any experts in electronics here that think this might work to help the CB with the HIDs on? As I said before, when I have my HID lights off, I get great transmission and reception. When I turn on the HIDs I get about 50 to 100 feet of transmitting capability.
