Nope! The Cellset is fantastic - it integrates with the HD Audio system perfectly - no switch, no auxiliiary port.  Had one on one of my bikes a couple of years back.

I was kind of hoping your device would do the same, Jim, and was a little disappointed to discover that's not the way your BOMM works.

Jim

Not a problem it confused me when they started talking about connecting the mic but not using the Aux input. I had to ask in order to understand, hearing through the helmet headset only explains it. I was designing a system that would allow you to listen to the radio and have the GPS interupt when a turn promt or phone call came through but it would be expensive, not as expensive as the Cellset however. My unit is just for people like me who don't listen to the radio but listen to the MP3 songs they have loaded on their Zumo's. The CB is the only thing that will interupt all other funtions.

I learned something anyway so not all is lost....Spring is here, riding season for those who live in the north country. After this winter I am ready. Still trying to figure out how my 660 fell off...

Yes, I looked at producing that too - as you say, expensive.  The Cellset is overpriced though - no doubt about that, so if you go ahead, and make it cheaper than the Cellset, there will be sales to be had!  :2vrolijk_21:

It is pricey, but no other product allows you to use the complete functionality of the HD system with the addition of GPS prompts, excellent phone intergration and if you want another device such as an radar detector or ipod etc (including another power connection).  Considering how much most of us spent on our very expensive CVO ultra's, it is a bargain.  HD should buy the Cell Set and use it in place of their useless GPS system.

One more piece of information:

Garmin will take any Zumo out of warranty and replace it for $150 plus shipping and taxes.

My 550 had gasoline pits etc in the screen and I got a "re furbed" unit (which I can't tell is not brand new).  Great deal and the turn around time is about seven days from when Garmin gets the unit.

I think the J&M unit will do the same thing but like the Cellset....$$$$ and it has a switch. The unit I designed would have only been about $280.00 and worked very much like the Bluetooth module you used to be able to buy from Harley. But alas....legal issues with the programming.

Switch is not good - and the Cellset doesn't have one.  What I had in mind was pretty trivial; a three-input mixer, with audio detection on
two of the inputs and timers-plus-logic to control the mixer.

One could adapt a Mixit using the GPS as the 1st priority if you did not want to use the speakers on the bike.

I like your Bomm.  Quality product for a reasonable price.

This is a mixit it is a simple little device and much less expensive then the Kennedy. It could be used as is but would have to be modified for use on the Harley in order for it to be inside the fairing. I was thinking of making a similar device and incorperate the Bomm into it but why re-invent the wheel.

Thanks Jim.  I can't help but think that by the time it's been modified to run inside the fairing and connect into the audio harness, it will be a bit Heath Robinson though.  :nixweiss:

This is a very simple unit. I am not putting Kennedy down here but it does the same thing and is way less expensive. I am just saying if you are handy all that is required is that you make the harness with the appropriate connectors on the end in order to plug the bikes wiring into the Mixit. You have to connect a Kennedy harness to the bikes wiring also and the wires are the same. Instead of plugging the bikes wiring into the Kennedy unit using their connector you plug the harness you made into the Mixit unit.

If I wanted I know I could make a similar device and sell it for less then $100.00. The logic IC's are readily available and the circuit is simple.

It's riding season.... :pepper: :pineapple: :apple: :jalapeno:
