Headset intercom
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:09:00 PM »

I had the bike in for service and had the shop replace the weather cap on the passanger intercom connector. Went out for a ride and started receiving major static in the head set and then it went away. We can hear music fine but cannot talk to passager and passanger cannot talk to driver. Any ideas?

This is on an :nixweiss: 09 Ultrase

Did you check your Intercom volume settings?  Also check your VOX settings.

Can you hear the radio from the pillion seat possition? If not then maybe they replaced the entire whip and forgot to plug it in. The connector is under the seat. Just a thought...

The intercom is on the vox is set as normal and we can here radio, cd, and mp3 in the headsets. When you speak you can tell that the sound volume lowers but no voice and be heard.

The head sets are J&M

Intercom volume is set separately. Not saying this is your problem but try having someone talk using the pillion seat headset while you adjust the volume in the front helmet headset using the volume control on the left bar. Do the same thing with the pillion seat but use the volume control on the right of the trunk. You should see the volume bars for both the front and rear seat in the radio display when this happens. This will not affect the volume settings for the CD, FM etc. as all volume functions on the radio are set separately. If this does not solve your problem then you will have to look further into it or complain to the dealer.

Yesterday I discovered the volume controls on the intercomside were turned all the way down. Once this was discovered and adjusted all is good.
