Clean 665 fairing install for SERGC
« on: June 12, 2012, 11:56:17 PM »

I have been wanting this since I got the bike. I am directionally challenged and need help! I just couldn't stand the look of the handlebar setup. I saw on the forum a couple of fairing mount setups where they took out the gauge and installed. Took it to my dealer (San Diego Harley) and those guys were game to try anything I wanted (they had never done any kind of mod like this before). I know from spending just about every night on this DA-- forum that many have had issues with their dealer but I have to tell you, the customer service a this place has been World Class from day 1 with these guys!
They all got together and came up with a game plan to make this the cleanest fairing install around and I have to say, I think they did it! when they ran into the issue of getting the XM and voice commands to work thru the system, they went to this forum and came up with the solution (how many dealers do you know that would be that open minded and persistant..) and I picked it up today and couldn't be happier!! Had to share and hope you all like it as much as me!

Glad you like it.  Sounds like a relationship with the dealer that most would like to have.

That is a very clean looking mount.  Nice job to the dealer! :bananarock:

Nice!! I did that a couple years ago to my orange RG, it kills me I don't have better pictures. I used a piece of 2" ABS plastic, it fits in the gauge hole almost perfectly, and the mounting bolts and cables run through the ABS. Looks like you have a geat setup there.

This is the best pictrue I have of mine  :(
