Gloves for summer
« on: July 11, 2011, 03:02:08 PM »

Looks like I need a new pair of gloves.
So before I visit my local HD store I thought I would see what you guys are wearing.
I am replacing full finger leather gloves with a Velcro closure.  These are $55 at HD.
anyone trying the vented gloves?
I am open to suggestions please include price approx. and where to get them.

Thanks

I always wear some type of glove. In the summer I wear fingerless perf leather hd gloves. I know my fingers are exposed but The palm is usually the first thing to hit the ground.

I too always wear some form of glove, the fingerless HD, leather palm, padded knuckle and cloth upper seem to be cooler than the all leather to me. Other than that, a HD light full leather glove and a pair of HD Gore-Tex are always in my saddlebag. :2vrolijk_21:

I wear the black perforated HD fingerless (nose pickers). I am on my umteenth pair! I wear a hole in the Palm near my throttle thumb about every 2 to 3 years. I have a drawer full of lefties I will sell you! They are very comfortable but there is one annoying problem. The hole in the back causes me to have these potato looking sun tan marks on both hands year round. People ask me about them so often that I finally started telling them they represent my Harley motor "Potato Potato" !  :2vrolijk_21: I think they are about $25 bucks.

I like the QWI spandex back fingerless gloves for hot weathering (and I do mean hot down here in Texas +95 in the summer)

I always wear leather gloves, fingerless ventilated in summer.  There are lots of good gloves out there.  I like these because the little loops make them easier to take off, plus I like the little independent shop.

Preforated leather makes a big difference in the summer.  Doesn't seem like much air would go thru those little holes, but they're a lot cooler than solid leather.  Deerskin is my leather of choice and Fox Creek has some great gloves and good quality/prices.  spyder

Love my QWI's. Ride all day, no pain or numbness (at least in the hands). Work as advertised.

Like Spydy said, Deerskin is the only way to go.  Unlike cowskin, deerskin does not get stiff after it gets wet then dries out again.

I wear these in summer...they are not cheap, but with 40K miles and 5 years, they are still in good shape.  Have some character, but no wear.  With the velcro closure strap, they won't come off.

They make some other models in Deerskin as well, but I like the Lee Parks gloves...have these and a winter pair.

Leather yard work gloves from Costco, 3 pack for about $19, I cut one pair to fingerless, last a few years, get very soft amd comfy.  Cheap and effective and to me, thats what counts! ONCE I bought expensive gloves, left them somewhere, seems I never forget the cheap ones!!!

Light weight deer skin roping gloves are great, and will not break the bank

Wow lots of good feedback!
I am going to look at the Deerskin gloves.
I was at the Dealer checking their and was surprised to see lots of new gloves.
I did pick up a pair I am trying a mesh glove for $40 (-) the HOG discount.
They have flow thru, padded palm, pre-curved fingers, ergo thumb, reflective piping, and I liked the way they fit.
I'll see how they hold up.
They are 98263-07VM/000L.
I kinda wish I would of waited because I like the Deer skin idea with holes.
I too always wear out the right hand glove *L

I make a living with my hands so I go full coverage all year. I bought the full fingered perforated leather at HD and they are fine but I need to look and the deer skin. I did not see perforated ones with full fingers do they have those?

I use these:  http://www.leeparksdesign.com/eshopprod_cat_530-3637_product_33203.DeerTours_Black.htm

They are expensive, but have an extra layer on the knuckles and the meaty part of your palm, plus a strap that absolutely keeps them from coming off your hands.  I've had mine for 5 years and they are still in good shape, even after getting wet several times.  Still soft and pliable.  They are not perforated, but something about the deerskin is cooler to me.
