Title: Audible Alarm sounder location
Post by: 103_RK on September 06, 2006, 07:02:56 AM
Does anyone know where the siren is for my 03 SERK?  I removed the seat, battery, and both side panels yesterday and could not locate it.  I see the controller under the seat that is for the turn signals and part of the alarm, but I cannot locate the siren.  I bought a pager used on ebay that will page a person when the alarm goes off.   I left the alarm on and rocked the bike, I hear the thing very loud, I am in the area but still cannot find it.  I need the three wire connector that goes to the siren (i think) to install it.  Any chance someone has installed the alarm pager and has the instructions?

The "siren" on my SEEG is just a 1" round solid state sounder moulded into the Security module under the RHS cover to the rear of the engine management module

When you think you've found it, cover it with a piece of tape and it'll go real quiet

Cheers

Dave

Thanks UK Dave, I'll look this evening.  I did see a small round cutout in the backing plate behind the ECM.  That must have been it.  Thanks again.

I looked at the parts manual for the bike.  The alarm siren looks much larger (approx 3" X 5").  I didnt' have time to look for it yesterday because my battery died in my car.  If anyone has any idea where it is, I would appreciate the help.  As I said above, I looked for the thing i all of the areas I thought it could be.  I guess I'll start over.

You're looking for this thing, under the right side cover if you've got it.  The alarm module itself is behind the battery.  The siren module is this thing under the right side cover.  I don't think you got the siren module stock.  They were an accessory separate from the security system primary kit when you added the security systems.

Just an FYI.  If you're wanting to add the siren module rather than getting the original standard "Smart Siren" instead get the newer "Smart Siren II."  They both do the same thing, both work with the original alarm system, but the Siren II has the transmitter/receiver built in to it to work with the separate monitoring remote that will let you know remotely if the bike is being messed with.

With the original Smart Siren those were separate pieces, didn't work too well, and ate up a lot of space under the right side cover.  With the Smart Siren II module they seem to work pretty well, the range is extended considerably, and it's all one piece.

Twolanerider, this is what I am looking for.  The 03 SERK came with both the alarm and the siren stock.  I know the siren is there because it was listed in the information published when the bike came out and when I forget to turn off the alarm, it screaches at me.  I want to connect a pager module that I bought cheap off of ebay to it.  I just have not been able to find it.  It must be under the ecm then?  Or is it behind something?  I looked under both side panels, I even removed the ecm to look for it.  Of course I found the alarm module itself under the seat.  I even reomoved the battery to see better behind it.
Thanks again

To add to that they didn't last long at all. Mines didn't even make it a year before the transmitter that sends signal to pager bit the dust. >:(

Thanks twolanerider, After looking for the second time, I wonder why I didn't see it the first time.  I appreciate the assistance, I was able to get the pager module installed and it works.  I do wish I would have had the instructions to the pager though.

It's the old style, the new style says it works with the newer alarm system.  My bike is an 03 with the older alarm system.

Twolanerider, I went to Harley's website and looked up the smart siren II.  It combines the transmitter for the siren with the pager transmitter so you only need one transmitter.  I will probably upgrade later.  Right now I just installed the older unit and need to use it for a while before I repurchase another system.  I wonder if the newest alarm system is going to be offered for older bikes?  The 07's arm automatically when you move away from the bike with the keyfob in your pocket.  Thanks for helping me find the unit.
