True Duals vs 2 into 1
« on: January 30, 2007, 10:02:49 PM »

Lots of other posts on here about the difference between RH True Duals and V&H True Duals, but does anyone else have any experience with the 2 into 1 offerings out there?  I heard a 95 CU with the RH 2 into 1 last weekend and it sounded sweet.  It was an HD mechanic who had it on his bike and said it was the best.  It looked pretty cool too.  I had RH True Duals on my 03 RK and now I am debating what to put on my new 07 SERK.  Any insight would be appreciated.

thanks, John

My opinion,

True duals
R/H's for the sound and the look or,
Freedom Cycle true duals for the sound and the look and a little more bottom end than the R/H's

2 into 1's,

D&D Fatcat, for the best power and best finish
R/H, 2 into 1 for good finish and good power
V&H Propipe, great finish really good power,,, on more modified motors a little restrictive
Thunder header, great power, loud, not the best finish,,, did I mention loud?

It's like asking which cam is best.
A package that's already tested is always better.
Find that GREAT tuner in your area and see what he says!
Then ask us!!!!!!

No fuel managment device?  :o They're asking for a real lean bike, no wonder there was a loss of power.

Good advice Chip. Just to add to that did you mention that the Thunder header is LOUD!.  ;D I actually like the sound of the TH the best of the 2-1's. As far as fit and finish the D&D is second to none. The new RH 2-1 looks and performs well also, but without the falsee availible.

Understand it all depends on a variety of things including choice of a tuner.  Just trying to get a feel for some of the combinations which people have already tried out there that work.  I don't recognize the Freedom Cycle brand.  Do they have a web site?  BB

Are the mufflers the same shape on the RH and the Freedom true duals. I heard the head pipes are routed a little different.
Thanks,
Mike

Mikey,

From speaking with James Yuel, the sweep of the front header is longer, still no interfernce. Even though the system is made by Rhinehart for Freedom it is not the same. Rhinehart builds a propritary system for Freedom, also my understanding the Baffles are designed differntly than the Rhineharts. Neve had them out to compare. Thats all he would tell me.

Had the Freedoms on my reworked SE 103" and it was a great system, now have a built Jims 120 with V&H 2:1 Pro Pipe, will be replacing with the Freeedoms again. James advised he was positive that it would very good with this engine. My concern was if the system wuld stilll be in the 131 HP and 134 TQ range, wil probably lose some, however, it really does not matter to me, as I would rather have a quiter sytme for all day riding.

The Pro Pipe blows whateve packing it has in the baffles out witin a 1,000 miles and it is annoying having the noise balring into one ear, even with ear plugs.

I've got the D&D Fatcats 2 into 1 with the Ghost Pipe and love 'em.  A friend of mine has the '07 Cherry CUSE and he put the R/H duals on.  They sound great and look good.  He put the the pipes on with no change on the filter of fuel injection.  He did have an issue with the rear brake lever hitting the heat shield on the pipe and had to change out the lever to correct the problem.
