Tell me NOT to buy this bike....FXDSE

(1/3) > >>

r0de_runr:
2007 FXDSE with ~20,000 miles.  Mechanical history unknown other than stage one with FatCat pipe and SERT with dealer Dyno (no proof of this).

Runs good to great, will ride it mucho more tomorrow.  Paint is flawless, chrome is 9 out of ten.  New Rubber.  Seat has a scratch ~3 inches in the bottom, visible.

Unknown history on any head gasket leaks in the past that have or have not been repaired.  Motor is very clean (steam cleaned?) but has oil under regulator as in oil changes so not perfectly clean as to hide something.

Custom Dynamics front and rear LED turn signals.

Aprox $14,300 out the door including sales tax and plates.  2000 down, 3.99% Harley credit.  Pyment aprox 225mo/60 months.

This would be my "fun" bike.

My FLHXSE3 is my "Serious" bike.

Thought?

Very nice looking bike.

Bromebe:
that is a nice ride,
great for there in the hill country

soon as one of the cobra's sell, I might start looking for a little newer, bigger bike!
we plan on a couple day ride up from Houston in the future and do some back roads

OK Greg, don't buy that bike.

Just funnin ya a bit....that's not really what you wanted to hear, was it?  It's actually a great looker and at $14,300 OTD, not that shabby a price.  I don't know what TX sales tax would be but basing that price on TN sales tax, that would put the selling price at around $13,000 which is upper middle of the book ($11,900 to $14,500).  If you can, wipe down the area you mention under the oil filter prior to your longer ride today.  If it's still the same after your ride, that tells you it actually was filter residue.
I'm sure you've asked but with no history from the dealer, is there anyway you could speak with the previous owner?  Not that you will always get good answers there but at least you can feel the previous owner out and may get a good idea of how it was treated.
Great bike for what you want to do with it plus some.  Good luck in your decision and let us know how it goes.
