Road Glide Fairing Removal???
« on: November 01, 2006, 10:58:51 PM »

Was called by a friend with a 2006 Road Glide having a problem. He couldn't remove the outer fairing. How hard could this be I asked myself? I went by tonight and after an hour and a half I was stumped. There seams to be something in the center holding me up. I need someone's expertise here, any advise? Please!  Wrongway

You need to remove the 6 screws around the inner fairing (t-25 torx) and the turn signals from either side. Do not remove the windshield. Then stand over the front fender, hold the fairing at the bottom on either side of the headlamp and lift up. There are two "ears" that the fairing hooks into on the inside above the headlamp.

PS (if you think it was tough getting it off, wait until you try to put it back on! :-?)

To install you have to "catch" the ears first, then the turn signals, then the 6 screws.

Be aware that there are different size screws in some years as well.

Good luck!

WOW!!![smiley=vrolijk27.gif] I'll never complain about taking the front of the fairing of an Electra Glide off again. Compared to this what I have to do is a piece of cake.

It's not as tough as it looks, once you do it.

Nah, that's not it.  Someone convinced him once the stereo would sound better if he occasionally polished the bass in the speakers though.  ;D
