Bought a Screamin Yellow FXR
« on: November 14, 2008, 06:24:25 PM »

Bought a yellow FXR4 with 5600 miles.  All stock except for exhaust (pythons).  I believe I'll use Keyboard to ship it unless Howie tells me otherwise.  Howie, anything I should know about the shipping before I set it up?

I missed having two bikes in the garage, especially with the 110" issues.  BTW, the upgrade with heads was completed today on the SERK3.

I'm going to do forward controls for sure, any suggestions, tips?  Also taller sissy bar with luggage rack.

skreminegul07,

That's a great lookin bike......CONGRATULATIONS......I sent you an e~mail with some part numbers for the backrest, sissybar, and rack that should work.....make sure you go over to the "FXR CHATTER" thread (if your comfortable of course, lol) and introduce us to ya........

Howie will be a great source for forward controls if he is interested in parting with his, and shipping costs as well.....

Blaine, everytime I see photos of your bike with those handlebars I really like how it "visually" appears and even better for you is that they are working great, as I assume.

Regards,

Tim

Hey skremin...Thats a purty yellow Fxr4 and I like those Pythons too  ;D . I'm running my stock shorty sissy bar on mine now but bought another 10" sissy bar and pad for the road. I believe Howie or Brian and some others have purchased luggage racks for theirs. I'm interested in the windshield you got mounted. I've been snooping around looking at Memphis Shades and the others; can you post me the Mfgr and Part Number when you get it delivered?...Oh...The Fwd Controls on mine are a set of Kuryakyn's I bought from Kenny on this site and not sure of the PN; might want to check them out if interested Thanks...Blaine

Great looker, Elvislee.
Are you doing anything to protect the paint on the rear fender from the bags?  Do you have those bent chrome pieces to keep the bags away from the wheel?

Thanks Neal.  Nice to have two stallions in the barn, like you.  The guy that owned this traded in the FXR4 and an 02 FLHRSE at the same time.  Both at around 5000 miles.  Silly man, bought a new CVO instead of having two.  I'm seriously thinking about trading the SERK3 towards the 02.

HeHe!!! I was wondering what was up with only 1 post in the FXR Chatter thread announcing your new YELLOW4! Just found this one! So congrats here too Phil!!! :2vrolijk_21:

Keyboard was excellent. I highly recommend them. They did everything as promised and were well priced. They have their act together, have nice trucks, and nice sleds for the bike to sit in. I'd use em again! ;)

Looking forward to dragging your YELLOW4 and my BLUE3 down to the CVO 10th and Ribfest together in May now!!! :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

Thanks all.  I'm just starting to get excited again about a new old bike. The dealer told me I could still buy the Extended Warranty!  I'm thinking FTW!

You will enjoy the FXR4. I purchased one new in 99. The ride was great and Pythons sound really sweet. I would go for the 02 on a trade if you really like the 02. The wife traded her SERK3 a couple weeks ago.

I used Keyboard to ship my FXR from northern Iowa a year ago. They were fantastic: did what they said, when they said they would, and for a reasonable price. Plasmaman used another carrier this fall, and they were terrible to deal with...same carrier that Ebay works with. Would not recommend them to ship a rusty skillet.

Skreminegul07....

Well, that's the beauty of all of this, buy a second set of sheet metal, paint to your heart's content selecting your "brandywine" and storethe original sheet metal.....just an idea.....could be all done for $1,100 or less I would imagine with parts coming from EBAY.

We won't even get mad....LOL
