Heat shield options?

Does anyone have any experience with using aftermarket heat shields? I found some from J&P cycles that claim to replace the OEM shields for our FXR's. Here http://www.jpcycles.com/product/442-023

I have no experience with JP'S heat shields, but before I spent $70.00 replacing a inferior exhaust, I would check into an after market pipe with better performance.
