Title: #162 DaKing
Post by: FLSTFI Dave on December 02, 2012, 09:25:59 AM
Well I finally got around to getting pictures of the new bike.  The head pipe is a Fuel moto ceramic coated one, and Fullsac 2.25 baffles with a TTS and Fullsac map.

Thanks guys for all the nice comments.  I put the air cleaner, head light trim ring, bag latch inserts on the bike the day I got it along with the Tuner, head pipe and baffles.  Took a week for the Yaffee plate frame as I waited for the tag to come in.  I have the same plate frame on my Skunk, but its gloss black.  More mods are planned.

Yes, I am a retired Electricians Mate Chief.  I have a similar primary cover on my Skunk.

Here are a couple of DaKing, with a stable mate, the Skunk which will be a year old the 5th of Dec and has just over 20,400 miles on it.

The Glide has 14 inch Paul Yaffee OEM monkey bars on it, thinking about them for DaKing, or maybe even 16"

Is that Loudon or Watts Bar lake in the background?  Great lookin' scoots ya got there Dave/Chief.  As stated, my buddy is retired Senior Chief and in Paducah KY at the present.  Had the pleasure of working with and shared many a pint with him in Georgia.  Great guy.  Worked with lots of Navy pukes (their word, not mine) over the years in the nuclear business...great folks all.

Watts Bar Lake, the some what green grass is my yard.  Had a good friend who worked Paducah when he got out of the Navy, but he left there 10 years ago and out in Tulsa now.  Must be talking about Kingsbay Georgia, have a good friend there too.

Not kingsbay, Vogtle Nuclear plant just South of Augusta.  And yep, Paul may be gone from Paducah by now and gone back home to Missouri.  Last I spoke to him however, he had decided to settle/retire in Paducah

Looks like you have a nice cove there on the lake.  Great backdrop for pictures of the scooters.... :2vrolijk_21:

Hey Dave, do you like the apes on the skunk?  I've sat on a couple EG/RG's that had those style bars and they felt really weird to me (but didn't try them on the road).  Lot's of folks have installed them so wondered how different it made the bike handle.

I like them quite a bit.  A very good wrist angle and comfortable width.  I was worried about how different it would handle, but it does not change the handling.  It takes the curves and corners just fine.  I can still do the MSF safety course box with these bars too.  My hands are about two inches below my shoulders.

I am considering the same bars for DaKing.  Waiting till I get seat with a back rest, then if these stock bars are ok then I will not change.  If they still bother my back, then I will go with the same 14" or maybe even 16" Monkey bars

Thank you.

Great pics and "collection" you have.

Thank you.  I also have my 100 year anniversary Fatboy.

Notice the tank is 180 of 200 HD did for the 100 year anniversary.  The front and rear fenders are Klockwerks, but were painted to match the original fenders by the same guy who painted the Tank for HD.

I have way to much money in the Fatboy to ever sell.  Its what caused me to think CVO's were a better way to go economically.

Thank you.  That plate has been on the Fatboy since 2003.  It said it all then, and still applies.
