Intro from Jacksonville NC - 2003 FLHRSEI2
« on: March 30, 2008, 01:59:02 PM »

I am the soon to be owner of my dad's 2003 Screamin' Eagle Road King...

Dad was the original owner and has taken insane care of it.  He is unable to ride it any longer due to his battle with cancer, which he is quickly losing.  It is en route to me from AZ...I should cross paths with it as I head out to spend time with him tomorrow.  Hope to get it Friday...being moved out here by ID Transport.  They have been great so far - hope to report that they were great for the entire ride.

I am a Major in the Marine Corps - who just came back last month from my 2nd Iraq, 3rd GWOT tour since 2004...the IRS hates me - I never pay taxes due to my combat exclusions!

Living in the USMC mecca that is Jacksonville, NC with my wife and 2 wonderful kids...but am a Floridian and die hard UF Gator Fan.

This is my 2nd Harley (Had a '91 Sportster when I lived in Okinawa in the early 90's).  I also have a KLR-650 as my daily ride...not a Harley, but a great bike in its own right.

Sean: Welcome to the boards. I was given my Dad's 77 FLH while he was suffering from Alzheimers and couldn't ride anymore. It sure is a bittersweet time. Hang on to it and enjoy the ride and the memories.

Thanks All!

I have already informed my son (age 5) that he will be the owner when it is my time to stop riding...I am betting he will have to beat my daughter up for it.  She is daddy's girl...and has already asked for a ride when she found out we were getting it.

I have promised my dad to take care of it as good as he did - and I will.

The bike will serve you in so many ways and I trust you carry the memories he had with it.

Sadly Dad's ride ended yesterday...he went peacefully in his sleep.

I still have not received the bike from ID Transport - and am getting rather anxious, it was due last week before I left for vacation - but he had a driver quit.    Joe has informed me it will be delivered when I get home next week.

I had hoped to let dad know I had it safely in my possession before he passed.

Had some Gentleman Jack in his honor last night, and will do so each night this week.

To the Gunny!

Sean, my condolences:

To the Gunny;   Sláinte!
An old Irish Belssing to you and yours;

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...

Buddy, I am sorry about your loss.  Still reeling in our home for losses many years ago.  It does get better, but it is like eating the elephant, small bites.  Thank you for your service.  Without folks like you, all that we have would be lost.  My husband has just retired from the Army.  Welcome to this great CVO Harley web site.  It is a great place, built by a very kind and wonderful man who donates his time and server space to allow us to get to know each other.  It is shared by folks of all creeds, colors, income brackets, experiences and beliefs.  The underlying commonality for us is our love for our bikes, especially these CVO Harley bikes.  You have inherited a treasure that I bet every time you straddle, you will get to share rides with your father.  Again, sorry for your loss.
