New rider
« on: March 29, 2011, 11:16:14 AM »

New rider, just took the MSF course in January.
Shortly after completing the MSF, I got a 2010 CVO ultra classic Electra glide. I've found the bike to be a challenge to handle precisely but day by day am improving. Finally starting to feel comfortable on it.
Hoping to take MSF experienced rider course in a few months.
Glad to have found this forum.
Thanks for all the great advice here. See you on the road!

Cuey,
Welcome to the site.  Please go over to the New Members introduction thread and introduce yourself to the group.  Glad to have you aboard.  I can only imagine that a 980+lb motorcycle would be a little unwieldy for a new rider such as yourself.  Take it into a vacant church parking lot and do some practicing of what your learned in the MSF course.  Make sure you put some garden hose or similar material around your engine bars and saddlebag guards.  It will protect them, should you accidentally lay the bike down.  Wouldn't want to scratch up a nice new CUSE would we?  Again congrats on your purchase and welcome to the site.

May want to remove the saddle bags when practicing!  Congrats on the new bike!

Welcome to the site from NW Ohio. Enjoy the new ride.  :orange:

You may also want to consider picking up the DVD "Ride Like A Pro" vol 5, I've heard some positive feedback as an educational alternative to complement the classes.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee! You certainly picked the top of the line "Full Grown Big Boy Bike" as your first motorcycle. You will be fine! Practice, practice, practice going SLOW, and turning, going fast and straight is not a problem.

When I got my first Road Glide, it took me 3000 mi. to become comfortable with it. After that, watch out.  They are heavy though.
