EXHAUST BAN BILL IN Massachusetts March 15, 2006
« on: March 16, 2006, 09:43:04 AM »

There is a bill on the floor going to a vote to Ban modified non-factory installed exhaust.

I am not sure that it includes motorcycles however it covers NOISE.

We already have local towns putting there own restrictions on pipes. On the news already threatning to ticket anyone who remotely bend the rules. Also I think they have some sort of bill in the State addressing this same issue.I'll check it out and update.

Dear Mr. Pressman,

Thank you for your email.  I agree with you that this
legislation probably goes to far and seeks to achieve its ends in an
overly broad manner.  I think it is important that we work at enforcing
existing laws to reduce noise pollution.  Some redesigned cars use
exhaust systems that are extremely loud.  I believe that we owe it to
our constituents to do what we can to prevent this.  At the same time, a
ban on all after market exhaust systems is not an appropriate measure.
Many aftermarket exhaust systems are equally or more efficient than
their counterparts and are more cost effective.  I support maintaining
important competition in the marketplace and allowing people to use the
exhaust system that they believe is appropriate for their needs as long
as it conforms to emissions and noise pollution standards.

Thank you again for your email.  If you have any questions, or
if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact
me.

Take care,
