New SESG- now with pics!
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:00:17 AM »

Well, today is 12-1-10, the day my Spiced Rum is supposed to be shipped to my dealer for me to take delivery.  Should be here Friday at the earliest, but more like Monday.  Just in time for our first possible accumulating snow.  And I have a snowplow business.  The waiting....  Guess it will give the dealer some time to do my mods.

What part North South East or West? I'm originally from the South side still have family and friends all over the area. A bunch of us rode up 3 weeks ago for pizza at Lou Malnattis. :2vrolijk_21:

I do miss the food :coolblue:

Sounds like a plan when the riding season returns. Chicago Toys for Tots ride is Sunday but it doesnt look like I'll make it this time.

If the link doesnt wok just go to youtube.com and search 2010 boom can they should come up? :nixweiss:

That is exactly what I needed!!  Now is the exhaust different on the lower video than the top video?  Looks like the lower video has a crossover pipe or something?  Are these boomcans just a slip on?  They sound awesome.

The top video is just the Boom Can Slip ons with the factory head pipes with the Catalytic converter still installed.

The lower video is the Boom Can slip ons mounted to the Vance & Hines Power Duals head pipe with no Catalytic converter

Did you notice enough of a difference from just the slip ons in the top video to the cat removed and new head pipe to make it worth it to do it again or will the slip ons suffice?  The reason I ask is that I am not all that hot about the looks of the V&H power dual.  I know that sounds crazy, but??

Not sure what your after here I'll try to answer it this way. If what your after is the Harley sound with a good looking pipe to fill the bag openings then by all means you only need the Boom Cans. They sound good and ran great on the factory pipe.  :2vrolijk_21:

I added the V&H pipes because I wanted the Cat removed to eliminate heat and I wanted to keep the factory exhaust intact in case  I needed to replace them due to a future warranty issue?

Many have sent the factory head pipe to Fullsac and had the Cat removed and it is a very viable and affordable solution to the CAT issue. Without the Cat the exhaust tone is noticeably deeper and slightly louder.

I hope this answers the question? :nixweiss:

Need to use the "You Tube" () tag located above the smiley's under the "B" bold tag. You then insert the URL location of the video... what is hidden looks like this...

Code: [Select]

Code: [Select]

I did add the center tag but it's not needed.

Yes, thanks.  I was just wondering if I can just slip on some boomcans on my new bike and be heard, or do I need to do the whole thing like you did.  I want as much sound as I can get without sounding like a West Coast Chopper, if that makes any sense.  I thought yours sounded damn good with just the slipons.  What is this heat issue you are talking about?  Heat while you are riding it?  Thanks for all your answers also, I appreciate your time as you have been there done that at this point.

Not sure if this is your first post 2007 Harley but the Motor Company added oxygen sensors and leaned out the motors to meet EPA standards.

A lean motor is a hot motor the 2007 and up engines run as much as 100 degrees hotter then the 2006 and older. In addition all the 2010's have Catalytic converters like your car and just like the car the Catalyst gets very hot. Removing the Catalyst reduces heat and then enriching the mixture back to the pre 2007 mixtures lowers the temp even more.

There are several articles on the board relating to this topic ranging from a race tuner to simpler plug n play XIEDS.

What did you pay for the boomcan slip ons?
They are 550.00 at Milwaukeebagger.com My dealer called them and got them to me for 450.00 but since then I found them on BUB.com for 400.00 you have to use their search engine and type in Boom to find them.

NO bike yet.  Harley has pushed it back until January now.  From what I can gather something about a mandatory layoff for the end of the year.  Bikeis built supposedly but will not ship until a truck is full now that HD does not do its own trucking.  Pipes I am working on with the dealer, he is trying to get them even cheaper than what you told me to pay.  As for the truck, yes it is getting ridden like rented mule.  We got just over 12" yesterday.  We have been out 5 times this week already.  But, I'll take it, helps to pay for the SESG!

So now I go on tuesday to do the paperwork and get the mods started.  Probably just wait until spring to ride it home as we have had 45" of snow so far this season.  Thanks for a great forum everyone!!!

Pretty cool opening it from the crate.  I have pics of that also but they are on the digital camara.  Usually most people do not get to open it from the factory and add the final touches and gas out of the box.  Kind of cool as most of us buy bikes off the showroom floor, at least I did last time.

Just got home from the dealer.  Did all the paperwork and it is officially mine.  It is amazing how tough it is to write that check!  But anyways my mods will start tomorrow and I will report back with more pics on Saturday hopefully.  In case anyone is looking my local dealer has a red/black 2010 SEUC arriving tomorrow.  Would be nice if my pipes arrived tomorrow also but oh well maybe next week.  So, as I said I will try to post some more pics after I check back on Saturday for a progress report.

Make sure you get the original derby cover from the dealer.... more then likely it's a VIN restricted part. Not something you just want to leave/let the dealer have.

I think you're the first one to not like the looks of the derby cover.  Interesting that you'd think the derby cover was gawdy, and remove it for that reason, and then add the lighted windshield trim.   :nixweiss:  Just sayin'.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  The bike is coming together nicely though, lowers look good.   :2vrolijk_21:

Yep, sure is...the lowers won't mount on the moustache bars.  You have to put on the standard electra glide-style bars.

I am ridiculous aren't I?  I actually wanted to install the lighted windshield trim mainly as an added safety measure to increae my visibility in peoples mirrors or blindspots.  But I must say once I installed it, it does go quite well with the color of my bike.

Not rediculous at all.  ;)  Each to his own...it's all part of the ownership and making it yours.  You can never have enough visibility, that's for sure.
