That is the question I keep asking myself. I've said for years, if only. If only the moco would make a road glide with the ultra accoutrements that would be a winner and I'd be a buyer. But heck I love my 07 cuse and really do not want to part with it. Plus I've added so very much to it that I'd lose my azz if I sold it. But why do I need two touring bikes? I dunno. But I sure do like the new 'ruse.'
-
Buy the new one and ride both for a while. Figure out which one
you like better and sell the other one. Problem solved.

I think Mark's got the right idea, Jerry. You know the old saying ... "You only live once!" I think the black and orange '07 Ultra is one of the prettiest of all CVO's and the paint schemes on the SE Road Glide Ultras don't really do much for me, but if the bike moves you ... go for it! :2vrolijk_21: We don't buy these crazy-expensive CVOs and then dump thousands more into them to make them the way we want them with the idea of getting our money back. The '07 has served you well for several years, so maybe it's just time for a change. :nixweiss: But if you can keep both of them, at least for a time, then you can decide which one is for you!
-
Jerry I dunno either, I too like the RG BUT I just could not part with my bike NO WAY, Well,,,, if some
stupid smart person was to offer me what I had in it well sorry to say it would be gone tomorrow. We both know that will not happen! It's a hobby if it makes you happy and you like doing it then that is part of being happy and living LIFE to the fullest. Life is short and look at all the nice people we have met along the way.... WHAT WAS WE TALKING ABOUT???
Oh I know the new RUSE... Well if the colors were little more stand out like the Street Glides then I think I would be
GLIDEN down to the dealer to pick one up, but from what I see (choices in colors) I'm sorry I not going to part with mine.... A milk dud is better than a tan turd and that's all I have to say about that.

The Banana just chit itself :huepfenlol2: .

The Banana just chit itself :huepfenlol2: .
The Banana knows that it is safe in my garage and will be there
for a long time. We have a good relationship, I promise to ride
it once in a while and it promises not to break down on the road
and leave me stranded. :nervous: :bananarock:
-
I hear 'ya. And I've said the same things to myself also. So I may just cogitate on it some more. Agree that the paint schemes are not spectacular and my '07 b&o is. Like you bubba I just don't see me parting with it so if I do anything I'll have two CVOs in my garage. We'll see.

That's my strategy...We're not here for a long time.....We're here for a Good time!!

Here's how I answered that question for myself.
1. Harley has finally done what I tried to do with my 2007 FLTR - plus a ton more goodies that I could have swallowed adding on my own.
2. I am a big man (6'4" @398lbs) and the FLTR fits me, much more so than the Ultra Classics or any other motorcycle for that matter.
3. I put 35k miles on my 2007 in 3 years - I ride!
4. For some dumbass reason I let my warranty expire without an extension
5. My title on my 2007 FLTR is clear
6. I really, really, really wanted one!!!
So on July 31, 2010 I purchased my FLTRUSE.

So OK I went and did it. Going for the charcoal slate and twlight black 'ruse. Ship date of 09/24/10. Should be available when we get back from the H.O.G. Route 66 ride.
But A.J., I'm definitely keeping my '07 B&O 'cuse. It has been too good and is just too nice not to keep. Guess I'll just have to ride twice as much!

Started the thread to ask the question and talked yourself in to it. That was an expensive thread :drink: !

I hope they didn't bend you over too much regarding any CVO premium.

I've set a tall order because my '07 cuse has just turned over 74k and it is only 3 yrs, 9 mos old and I didn't ride for 6 months last year due to my broken leg. Chit I'm gonna be on the road all the time. I say that like it's a bad thing? Nah, I'll love it. :2vrolijk_21:

Simon
Hi Simon. Yes, partially retired as of last November but until then was full-time - except of course for those long road trips I managed to get in a couple times each year.
-
DesertHOG, I was in a similar boat. I had a 2002 FLTRI and did it up as a touring w tour pack etc. Loved it. In 08 i sold it and got a FLHX and as i couldnt wait anymore. I always told myself that if the moco did one In CVO i would be a buyer. The custom RG was not touring enough for me... Then out of the blue the RG CVO Ultra comes out. I called my favorite dealer the next day and ordered a black one. It took a while but my dream came true.
-
I'm still chuckling that the word "need" was used mulitple times in this thread. lol Get one of everything and ride the hell out of them!!
-
The word "need" usually works with the wife....so now I have a Rio Red and black one on order!

Congratulations! We did the same thing, made the mistake of riding one and was hooked! Although I love our '07 we are trading it. Wife says can't have three Harleys, the Corvette, Avalanche and Jeep. Great color choice too!

So Jerry....Tell us how you justified your decision to buy yet another bike? :nixweiss: You're a sick puppy.
I traded my 09 SEUC for a 11 SERGU today myself.

HaHa Ken! Didn't want to fix it up huh? Great choice!

Justify? I don't need no stinkin' justification. I just asked the 'Queen' if it was OK with her and she said something which I took as YES. What color is your new SERG?

One little accident and a couple of scraped knees and you go out and buy a new bike. If you're in the generous mood, I think Val is looking for a new ride. :huepfenlol2:

Actually I traded the Ultra and I am fixing up the RG. We'll be a two RG family now.

The SERG is the red one Jerry. I did the same thing with JD. I asked her about it, and although her response wasn't exactly a NO, I took it as a YES. I think her exact words were "ARE YOU FRIGGING NUTS"?
Congrats Ken-Had to have my daughters 11 year old eyes to catch the line though about your new addition. :cherry:
Hey I see you traded bikes too. How are you liking it?

Ken, we all know the answer to that question is "Yes", so there you have it. Justification.

Linda, can AJ get another Screamin Eagle?

You can't justify spending $36K for 2 wheels, 70's technology, and at least $5K more to make it right.
We are some sick puppies. ::)
Getting along fine with the new bike Ken (knock wood).. New owner of my old bike had her burn to the ground.

Absolutely can't justify what we spend on these bikes...Well other than the smile factor. We do it because we can and we want to.
I'd read where your old bike burned. Sounded like he decided he needed the mola geetus more than the bike. That's a shame. Hey...missed you in MV this year Bob.
Glad to hear you're doing good with the new bike. I traded in a red 09 SEUC with 5,500 miles. After getting the RG, I find myself just not wanting to ride the Ultra anymore. Hopefully I'll like riding the Ultra RG as much as the RG. I don't expect the Ultra RG to be as much fun as the standard RG, but, it should be more comfortable for trips etc. We'll see.

Congrats Ken on the new RG Ultra. :2vrolijk_21: I'm looking forward to joining the RG group Saturday when I hopefully get to pick mine up. But like you said, I know the RGU will be a very nice ride, but it probably won't be as fun as riding the SESG. But then again, this one is momma's bike. I get the rough job of chauferring her around on it. I know, it's a rough job, but somebody has to do it. :P

That's JD's favorite question to me. But I ask her why she bought three pairs of flip flops at once if she can only wear one pair at a time. Sometimes she just really blows the money.
