Title: Self inflicted disappointment
Post by: gijerome on January 27, 2011, 08:41:48 PM
I decided to experiment a little bit with the new 140/21 tire and wheel combo.  The experiment turned out to be a bad idea.  We installed the Hog Pro brackets that raise the stock fender enough to gain clearence to the tire.  It looked fantastic but the problem is that when the brakes are applied the fender is coming in contact with the crash bar and brake line t on the bottom of the triple tree.  I now have a fender that is all dented up.  I would now like to do a custom fender but am really nervous on getting a exact paint match.  Does anybody out there know who is exactly painting the cvo's for Harley in the 2011 model year?  For anyone else out there thinking of doing the 140/21, make sure that you check thoroughly to make sure you have it figured out or you will run into the same problems!

Take a look at this thread - Paint Discounts/Color Matching for CVO Harley Members (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=56961.0) and a review of some of his work here - J.V.'s Custom Paint Website Reply #1 (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=58611.msg834521#msg834521).

Is the fender different than my 2008 SERK? I just had to open up the back holes into a little bit of an egg shape and mine fits just fine. No special brackets needed.

Thanks Dood!  Vrog my guess is that you have a 120/21 tire and wheel.  The 140 tire is about 1 inch taller than the 120.  This is why we had to use the brackets to raise up the fender.  The stock fender does work with drilling the holes out for a 120 tire. Thanks for the replys!
