Title: Royal Blue Wax
Post by: porthole on August 27, 2013, 03:37:59 PM
Royal Blue Wax
http://royalbluewax.com/

I've quite a variety of cleaners, waxes polishes etc over the years.

Never tried Glare. From all the discussions here it was not cost effective and required too many steps and time. For me, for the most part, it is ride or clean, doing both is tough with limited time.

At the last NYC bike show I bought into the snake oil sales for this product.
For once, something I bought at a show actually works.

I used this on the bike while waiting on the last set of parts and am very pleased with it.

One step wax and cleaner without any abrasives.

Don't know how it cleaned up everything without any abrasives, but I eliminated small scratches, swirls etc that Swirl and Scratch Remover or 3M's Finesse did not remove.

Bug juice that I thought had permanently etched into the fairing is gone too. As mentioned in another thread, I got some nice compliments on the bike this weekend at a bike event. It looked so good when I was done I almost didn't want to take it out and get it dirty.

Where I could, I used a polisher, this one to be exact with a foam pad.

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=296886&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=50218&subdeptNum=50251&classNum=50253#.Uh0AFX_N2sF

I'd recommend this for those that are not into the whole Glare thing.

I agree.  I bought a bottle at the Laughlin River Run this year and like it enough to buy a case.  I love it and so do my friends.  You will not be disappointed.

Well, guess I need to give this a try.  Like some of the other products our members swear by, the couple I've tried have worked great.  I expect the Royal Blue to work just as described....will order ordered some this afternoon and thanks for the tip...

...too bad, Judy.  Almost got away with it but Chip is just too fast on the draw..... :huepfenlol2:

Bought some at the Honda Wing Ding this year, and am impressed at the result and the ease of application.  Have now used it on the Harley and the Honda.  Works great on the whole bike.  Did the windshield, chrome and the paint.  To be honest I always thought this was another snake oil, but am glad I bought it and will replenish my supply when this is gone.  I have tried all kinds of products and this is the best I have found.

I hardly ever wash with water unless i get caught in the rain, otherwise i just use a sprayon wash and micro fiber rags.

I ordered an received the Royal Blue cleaner and was. Washed the bike as normal on Saturday before it started raining. Pulled into garage and cleaned the entire bike with Royal Blue. It removed the rest of the bug stains from fairing and windshield and the paint now looks like new. So far so good.

Have any if you been using the product for an extended period?  How frequently. An you use it and how safe for the paint is it?

I have used it for a few years.  My MC gets it a couple of times during the riding season.  Not only is it safe for the paint but it is the BEST thing you will ever put on your paint.   :2vrolijk_21:

Just waxed up the wife's red vette and it was easy on and off. Came out great and even put a nice shine on the Clear Bra without scuffing. I usually just use plex cleaner on that but decided to see what the wax would do and it brought a nice clean shine to it.  :2vrolijk_21:

Grew up as a child in the 50s and 60s around the retail automobile industry. My Dad who was a new car dealer was always referring to "Jesus Oil" Finally I asked him what he was talking about. Like STP, he said, "Jesus I hope this stuff works" With that start, I have always been a skeptic about new products. That Included Royal Blue. Finally got tired of reading it's praises and ordered a bottle, just to prove it didn't work. "Jesus, this stuff really does work!"

After doing our two bikes several times, I was so impressed, I ordered a gallon to do our motorhome. I had just spent $4,000 to have our coach color sanded or cut and buffed. Three guys worked for four solid days sanding the original clear and polishing out any scratches or swirls. Their finished product was amazing, but it still had some buffer swirls left in it. Royal Blue took care of it. Sure it took some time to hand polish a 45 foot motorhome, but the final product is amazing.

Thanks Royal Blue

I have been getting it at the NYC bike show. 2 bottles for $20 and it includes a mircofiber towel. And the NYC show is the only event I have seen the vendor selling at.
So the online link with the CVO discount is the next best place  :2vrolijk_21:

Received my bottle of Royal Blue. I have been super satisfied with Glare for 3 yrs and hate switching without a good reason. So I glared it as usual this winter and did the left half of the bike with Royal Blue to see if there is a difference. Half the fairing, half the gas tank, the left side cover, the left saddle bag and the whole rear fender.  I want to know how it holds up. Right now, after application I can't tell a difference from one side to the other. We'll see.

I've been using Royal Blue for at least 3 or 4 years, probably longer, and it does a great job.  I've been buying it every year at Johnstown Thunder in the Valley, but I forgot to pick some up this year.  My neighbor was ordering some direct, so I just added on to his order, so I'm stocked up again.  From what their rep advised me, you don't need to let it dry before removing it.  He also told me to put a second coat on for the best results.  I don't do the second coat, as I was my bike almost as often as I wash it, so I think I'm pretty well protected.

Got my first chance to use the wash on the wife's car yesterday - Don't tell her I used her baby as a guinea pig to test it  ;)

Holy cow! I don't know what's in this stuff but the dirt and grime practically fell of the car and it left behind a nice finish  :2vrolijk_21: - I had time to apply the wax to the top surfaces and now the red looks DEEP RED. I best get busy finishing the rest of the car with the wax.

I tried the wax yesterday, did my fairing, I couldn't believe it, I never got to do the rest of the bike cause we decided to go for a ride, almost 200 miles later we got home.  Today we're cleaning and waxing the bikes.  What an awesome wax, so easy to apply, and what a difference in the shine.  I did half the fairing and threw the cloth on it, it slid right off, I threw it on the half that was not done and it stuck.  I bet bugs will come off much easier now.  Great product.  Thanks Judy  :2vrolijk_21:

Tried the Royal Blue wash and wax yesterday.  I've always used Glare or S100 the past few years but this stuff beats both of um hands down. The wax is much easier to apply and remove than Glare and you end up with a much deeper shine.  If you get some on the seat or rubber it wipes right off.

If it's good enough for Chip, it's good enough for me!

It does work well.  Been out doing the car just now.  Very easy on and off.  If it doesn't last as long, who cares, just do it again and only do it once, not 3 or 4 times like with Glare.  My make claying obsolete, too, as it really does seem to "melt" tar specks and other dirt away.  Good stuff.

 :2vrolijk_21:

Does this mean Chip doesn't get any more free 6 pack containers of Glare??    ???

Damnit.
What Tommy doesn't tell is when he sent me a six pack 7 of the six bottles were empty.
I'm still hoping with a few more shipments maybe one of the bottles will have some in it.
Like that will ever happen.....

I know that a lot of good modern wax's are easy but I cant think od any that are this easy, if ya get some on black rubber it comes right off no white chalky mess any where, yesterday Sue and I spent most of the day cleaning scoots, while waxing one of my saddle bags I accidently got a good amount inside of the small letters that say harley davidson, I said  chit! gonna be fun diggin that out, then I wiped it with a microfiber cloth not even hard or repiticiously and it was gone, I think this guys gonna make a living.  And by the way I got a  HELL of a deal on this first batch!!!

About to detail the bike for the NC trip next week. I have never tried this stuff on the chrome pieces (I use the HD chrome polish). So I was wondering if anyone uses the Royal Blue on the whole bike (chrome and all).

Cam.....this works just fine for me on the chrome....easy to remove as well.  I haven't used it on the windshield however.....not sure if it would harm or work on that.

Thanks Russ. I was concerned because some of the chrome parts get a heck of a lot hotter than other surfaces. I would hate to have baked-on wax residue that might be impossible to clean off so I figured I'd ask before doing any damage!

My experience with Royal Blue

I used the car wash on my wife's car and it appeared to add shine.

Sunday morning before a ride with some friends, I washed by bike with the car wash and since I was a little a head of time, I decided to wax half of my fairing with Royal Blue and the other half  with Mother's wax that I have had for a few years. I also did the same to the gas tank. The bike is a 2000 EG with black paint.

I asked several of my friends to inspect the fairing and tank -- they did not know what wax I used on which side. Unfortunately they all chose the Mothers wax side as being the best.

I will say that the Royal Blue was easier to apply and wipe off --

So I will continue to experiment

I guess I get to jump in this thread now. While at a flea market today there was a guy selling the stuff with the full blown car display. Having read this thread numerous times already I had almost bought some online. The special today was buy the wax and get a free bottle of detailer along with a micro fiber towel. Regular price about $50. Whole kit for $20 today.
Buddy of mine says I wonder if he'll deal any lower. I told the guy that I have three trucks and a bike to keep clean. Can you give me two kits for $30? He thought about it for a minute and said since he was leaving soon he'd do it. My buddy and I both have it now for $15 each. :)

3 total. Had to take it getting to and from the campground as we came down I-75 from Dayton and once on Saturday. Return trip sucked as always. 11.5 hours in the saddle. If my buddy from Cleveland would not have been able to make it, I would have used my rampage and hauled the bike to Dayton. At least the last 3.5 hours home from there would have been more comfy on the slab.

Can't wait to see what this stuff does on my truck and see if the airbrushing stands out any better.

Kinda comparing apple to oranges... Bugslide is a quick detailer... Royal Blue is a wax... You should have a good base/foundation of wax to start with and then use Bugslide (or other quick detailer) to maintain it.

Quick detailer doesn't need to be laid down on a base of fresh wax.  A clean, new showroom bike can be maintained with a good, high quality detailer.  I would venture to say that 50% or greater of the guys (and gals) never use wax at all on their bikes.

Went to the NY Motorcycle Show yesterday and picked up a bottle of RB, their spray detailer, and microfiber cloth for $20. That seems to be their standard deal based upon what others have said on this thread.
I spent the afternoon today working on the bikes. They were already done (S100) but I figured what the heck, let's start the process of getting another coat of wax on before they go under the covers for the winter (riding stops after the first snow storm hits and they pound the road with salt and chemicals).
Like many of you, I have many different types of detailing products. I'm pretty impressed with RB. It's working well. It's easy to use, leaves a great shine, and even does some paint repair in the process, eliminating small swirls in the paint.
Here are a couple of pics from today, playing around in the garage.

Well, looks like I'm SOL with that local dealer close to me, I finally called and he is a smart man & camping out in Florida til March. I went to their website to order directly from them, but their site seems to suck and not working right unless I'm screwing up. When I pick what I want and the quantity, there is no way to add it to my cart?? I even made an account and still nothing goes to my cart when I select something. What is the trick?

Nevermind, I was able to add 2 bundle packs to my cart and ordered those and got them already. This chit is AWESOME! Just did one saddlebag & part of the tour pak for a trial run since bike is buried for the winter ... quick, easy and shines like a mo fo! Best part is the wax is BLUE!

Can't wait to finish the bike and do my car with it too. The bundle packs are great starters ... one bottle of wax,  spray detailer, wash & shine, 2 microfiber towels, applicator and sticker assortment. I also ordered a few of the spongy microfiber applicators. I love the applicator that came with the kit, nice little pocket to put your fingers in so you don't lose it while using it. I think Royal Blue has another life-long customer here!

I asked the dope selling the Product in Daytona what I thought was a simple question, Only two ways a wax can be classified a "Cleaner/Wax". One is abrasive, no matter how major or minor and the other is a chemical. Can have both but to be a cleaner you MUST have at least one. He thought for a few seconds and said neither, just good product, When I asked what in the product made it a cleaner besides "good product", he smiled and moved to next person standing there telling him how it cleaned without abrasives. That ended it for me, I will stay with Mothers.

Took me a couple of years to try Glare and after was their biggest fan including posting up on here about how great the product is which I still believe is the case but about a year ago after reading about Royal Blue almost every night I did on a whim send away for their Spray detailer but when I got it I decided to just stick with Glare's spray on detailer (Blast). Though the Glare product does work great, it is a PIA to use with even the spray on taking quite a bit of elbow grease to apply but as I said, I am a late adopter so I just stuck with it. Last weekend I did around 300 miles and when i stopped at my office to clean up my bike and catch up on some emails, both my bottles of Blast sprayer nosils broke when I went to use them so I either had to wait until I got home or use the Royal Blue that had been in my drawer since I got it.
I will now admit that as soon as I stayed it on and it wiped off so easy on the first try I was amazed! I did my entire bike in les than half the time it would have taken me with the Blast and looks at least as good. I went right to my computer and ordered their wax and look forward to trying that next week. I may be slow at trying new things but I will admit when the new thing works.

Great news!  I was the first to brag about this product years ago because it was made in my home town.  Everyone laughed and remained doubtful.  I smiled and continued to wax away.  Then one of the guys bought some at a cycle event and told of his experience on the site.  Wouldn't you know that all the guys jumped on the band wagon.   ???

Update to my Royal Blue usage.  I've been itching to try Zymol for years and found a small sample bottle recently (it's really expensive for a wax...which is why I had never bought it).  While the Royal Blue and to a lesser degree the S100 will always be on my cleaning shelf, it will now be joined by Zymol.  I was very pleased with how it brought the color out on the SERGU and seems to last a bit longer than the R.B.  Just my two cents....

For whatever its worth since using RB since this post this is what I have found. RB spray detailer is the best, super easy and quick. As far as "the best setup" I have found that doing the full "Glare" treatment (which last phase is a polish) and then putting the RB wax on top of that is as good as it gets. Obviously that is a tremendous amount of work but the finished product looks insane. I think that is a twice a year deal with doing the RB spray detailer on the weekend rides and the RB wax once a month or so. I think I have most high end waxes and cleaners in my garage and this is my plan going forward unless someone else screws me up with posting some new product on here that I don't know about now..

Good morning all,

Anyone have any issues getting in touch with the Royal Blue folks?

I received my order however, the USPS box was damaged due to the detailer leaked.

I have sent emails and left a voicemail message with no success.

Cheers!

Try this guy. He claims to be part of the family that owns the business. Then again, he was selling at the bike show in Cleveland last month. At least it's a phone number...
