35 mph handle bar shack
« on: July 14, 2013, 11:23:33 PM »

:A year ago when ridding two up while making a low speed u turn the handle bars would walk back and fourth. Last week took it to the dealer the worked on the neck bearing. Now while riding two up when slowing down at about 35 mph the handle bars will try and slap the tank if i hold the handle bars loosely. Grab a hold of the tightly and slap goes away looking for ideas. Thanks David

David, this was a very common problem on Road Glides straight from the factory a few years back as well.  Just guessing, but I wouldn't be surprised if your dealer tech didn't use the wrong spec for the steering head bearing preload.  It is significantly different from the spec for a batwing bike.

Is the swing test explained in the service manual?  This is new to me.
