Procharger breather
« on: July 24, 2014, 10:56:04 AM »

Anyone tried to take the bonnet and screen off the compressor and replace with a better cleaner/ air filter?
What I can see of the compressor wheel is really dirty.

It's a K&N and don't know of anything better.  AFE?

Compressor wash.  Every 100 hr of flight time on a CH46.  (Phrogs Phorever)

Disconnect the tube from the charger.  You don't want the gunk getting into the cooler.  Idle bike and spray water into it.  Spray simple green or cleaner of choice.  Rinse with water.  Repeat until desired clean.  Might have to idle it up a bit, and make sure whatever you use.  Rinse it real good.  Simple green like most other soaps are corrosive.

Those filters are super-restrictive.
That bonnet, should by rights, be much larger to accommodate a larger element.

There is a reason for the bonnet to be that size. The larger the bonnet the more it has to pressurize that the opposite of what you want to do with force air.

We offer an air cleaner that mounts to the other side of the blower that allows 600 and 800 cfms of air to pass.

No problem, Frank. Just making sure he gets both sides of the story. There is two sides... Always... On cams, exhausts, heads, etc., etc.  not to mention two faces.

Well aware of why that bonnet is the size it is, for most, but not all applications, but the filter it self is very restrictive..............we've attended to that on more than 1 occasion................

IME there is always 3 sides to every story.  The 3rd being the truth to what really happened.

The air cleaner is not the main problem with the blower intercooler is also.
Procharger is able to make 600cfm the intercooler/air cleaner can not flow that at all. 2 issues there.
Thanks FD
