Harley Helmet
« on: November 27, 2012, 06:09:18 PM »

G'day, does anyone have the harley helmet with the clear visor but has a drop down dark visor inside when you are in the sun. I like the convenience of not having to carry glasses
any issues ?

Not a Harley but an HJC. They do make some of the Harley helmets. Mine is modular with the built in sun shield. Love it!  Great not having to wear sunglasses.

My Son has the 'Ghost Flames' version of the HJC for Harley helmet and absolutely love it.   8)

I've had one of the HD Drive 1/2 helmets for the last 4 months. No clear shield, but it does have the drop down sun visor. Works very well.

The drop down visors are great.  The only thing you have to look for is to be sure it comes down far enough not to be in your line of sight.  Most all the newer helmets have solved that small issue, but some of the older models were a little "short".  Harley doesn't make helmets, so somebody makes it for them and it's usually not hard to figure out who...then you can read some reviews on Webbikeworld about that particular helmet.

Bought the Gloss black Harley badged 3/4 helmet with the clear face shield and drop down tinted inner shield two weeks ago.

Mainly got it for cold weather riding, like in the 20s and 30s.  Works very good.  The tinted shield is nice, but not as dark as I would like.

On bright days I usually just wear my sunglasses under the clear shield.  However when it is getting close to dusk I use the tined drop down instead, so as the sun goes down, I just let up the tinted shield.

I have about 1600 miles on the helmet.  I like it so far, getting use to a 3/4 as I usually wear a beenie.

I recently bought the Shoei Multitech.  The best helmet I've ever owned.  I tried the Shark, Nolan and the Shoei Multitech.  The Shoei was the best fit for my head and felt more substantial than the others.

It came with a price around $600 with discounts.

The best thing to do is try them on before deciding your checkbook.  You only have one head and it only hurts the wallet for a short time.  :2vrolijk_21:

Good luck deciding!

Yea....my next helmet will be the Shoei Neotech.  Just got to save my pennies!  Probably the best Flip face helmets on the market today are: Shoei Neotech; Schuberth C3; Nolan N-104; and perhaps the new Shark Evoline 3.  The Nolan and the Shoei have the best ventilation of any Flip Face helmet out there, bar none.

Oops!  I meant to say Neotech.  I bought the wife a Multitech two years ago.  The Neotech has the internal shaded flip visor.  I really like the anti-fog feature.  That's a big problem around here, because the mornings are usually in the 40s and 50s early.  Fogging has been a PINTA.  No worries now.  There is an anti-fog liner that clips on inside the visor.  It's great!

that's disappointing that the tint in the drop down is not dark enough, I live in SO CAL and need a dark lense

That Shark Evoline 3 looks like it might be nice. Has anyone here had experience with that by chance?

the problem I have with this style helmet is that since I wear glasses the flip down sunshade sometimes will hit the normal glasses that I wear making the sunshade unusable...if you wear glasses make sure you look for this problem

I have the HD helmet in the full face model and I love the inside dark shield.  Works perfectly.

I wear an older Schuberth C2 modular helmet in the winter that has a flip-down sunshade and like it. I find that the sunshade is convenient, but cuts down on visibility somewhat unlike a good set of sunglasses. I have what they call a long-oval shaped head so the Schuberth and the Arai Profile fit me best.

My son has a Nolan with the exterior drop down tinted visor over the face shield and he loves it.  My husband has another helmet (HJC?) that only has the drop down tinted visor.  He likes it.  He wears glasses underneath it so it works well for him.

I've tried on a couple and find you have to watch where the drop down visor hits your nose.  I think the HJC bumps the bridge of my nose and it's a PITA.  I wear glasses and a 3/4 or full face helmet.

There are some companies making Transition visors.  It's on my list to research.  I have Transition glasses and use them for riding.

I bought this on-line (Harley-Davidson® Helmet, 3/4 Retractable Sun Shield 98210-10VM). Great Harley Helmet that is great for most of the year here in Korea. The vents are a plus for when it gets a little warm!
I really like the adjustable pop-down visor.
