Looking for help

(1/1)

williamgsullivan:
I'm looking to purchase this 2003 Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary Edition Screaming Eagle Road King. Has shields on fender and motor. 32000 miles. Has 15 grand of screaming eagle aftermarket upgrades they are asking 8500.00 I'm 71 and this will be my first Harley is this a good bike and price

SIKBIRD:
If you could link the ad or post some pics we would be able to tell more about it.  Btw: Screamin Eagle parts are made by H-D (Or by a third party under license agreement with the MoCo) and are generally not considered aftermarket.  So I would be interested in exactly what comprises $15k in add-ons.

X2

iski:
x3.  Need to see what those upgrades are also.

So-called upgrades don't add much to the actual value, especially on an older bike.  Look up book value (shoot for at least two or three sources) to give you an idea of fair market value.

Without a full mechanical inspection it's impossible to tell you if the bike is a good deal or not.  Is this a private seller, or a dealer?  If it's a dealer, will they guarantee the bike for at least 90 days?  If private, will they let you have a mechanic of your choice inspect the bike prior to making a commitment?

Using NADA for my zip code, average retail for a 2003 FLHRSEI2 before mods is in the $6700 range.
