Patents applied for -- new variable valve timed engine

Interesting read.  Probably (maybe) replacement for the Sporty engine.  By Harley standards this is complicated.  God help the first couple years' new owners.

It will be a good design made with cheap parts and poor quality construction. It will sell for way more than it should.

I think Indian is planning a VVT engine for their air cooled bikes and BMW is already using it.  If I was running HD, I’d bite the bullet and let German or Japanese engineers design it.

Interesting.  I wonder how many ways it can leak oil?  :nixweiss:

They did, and we had the V-Rod engine. HD killed that.

Read something a month-ish ago wherein was described more than one motorcycle manufacturer not being ready for the Euro5 emissions standards they're all supposed to start meeting this year.  The article linked at the beginning of this thread mentions that also.  As old as the Sportster engine design is they have to borrow some S's from Sporter just to try to spell emissions.
