Filter... odd

Was looking at the bike earlier.... Down under the passenger peg there is a small chrome air-filter, and the filter had a light coating of oil...  I broke off the housing by accident "press fitting" that fits onto a rubber hose... i traced the hose.. looks like it goes into the carb and then into the head?  It has a mikuni carb on it...  fxr4

Some type of blow by filter ?

a cranks vent wouldnt go up toward the carb. it would go toward the lower area of the motor. the "filter" could be the same for either use
