08 brake questions
« on: January 21, 2008, 11:22:17 PM »

A couple of 08 Brembo brake questions. Do the Brembo's bolt to the earlier fork legs? (I think so as the legs are the same part number) What is the size of the Brembo rotors? Are the master cylinders different? Now for the big one, are the Brembos that much better than the previous year calipers? What and where is the ABS? Is it an add on part or something to do with the master or caliper? :nixweiss:

I have an 08 at the shop now that I'll tak some measurements for you on. The Master cylender is different. The ABS system is mounted under the right side cover. The ECM is completely different as well. I do not think retrofitting the ABS system to an earlier model will be possible

I'm not after the ABS, I actually want to rule out the parts I'm looking at that they are not ABS.

I have a chance to score both calipers, rotors, brake line, master cylinder and lever for a decent price. (all new take off stuff) ;D

I do know that the rear master cylinder mounts totally different than pre-08.

A buddy put the 08 calipers on his 07 just needed to change rotors, it all bolts right up.  Think he had to change brake line but not positive.  He feels that the master cylinder needs to be changed.

The lowers legs are the same, caliper mounting is the same. The rotor diameter is 11 7/8" prior years are 11.5".
