My SERG was manufactured 05/09, received 06/09. Went to Service Check Up, site informed me of my 5000 mile service criteria, however, there was no recall notice.

For the first time I feel lucky not to have made the list.  Took delivery of my silver and Titanium in late June.
Thanks rganz for the heads-up.

Is there any central location that can be checked for the recalls/services bulletin on HD website?  I find it frustrating to locate important safety information.

Ok, here's what I know...

I just got off the phone with my Service Manager and H-D says there is a problem with the rear wheel on 120 out of 2500 units.  The problem is with the heat treatment that was done and it requires the wheel to be pulled off the bike and the tire removed to inspect the inside of the wheel.  The kits will not be available until the 17th and will not be shipped until a problem is reported by the dealer.

My Service Manager recommended not riding the bike any more than necessary until it could be inspected.

Thanks Bob
I was told it was a casting issue also. Nothing more specific.

BTW are the wheels specific to the Serg only or does any other CVO run the blade wheel too.

Sorry Brad.

I'm 23 minutes late in replying.
I just called my service manager and he didn't answer, then I remembered they have a staff meeting every Tuesday at 10, so I'm sure he will call me back. I will post when he calls.

I was looking for some time to get mine in to have the stick-on wheel weight replaced (the double-back tape is still there but the weight(s) are gone).  I guess this recall just freed up my calendar.

I have talked to two local dealers.  They didn't know about the recall until I told them.  They can do nothing until the official recall bulletin comes to the dealer.  They will not even schedule an appointment until they get that bulletin because it will have instructions for how they are supposed to proceed.

I called Harley customer service this morning. They person who answered the phone could pull up the recall notice under my VIN, but had to put me on hold to go find out more information.

I was told there is a problem with the rear blade wheel cracking due to improper heat treating and that the Dealer will replace the wheel. Parts will be available Monday, 7/20/2009.

I called my dealership and made an appointment with the service department for 7/22 and they are going to "figure it out" and order the parts ASAP.

I was told the same thing by my service manager.
My question to him was does that mean a bike has to be brought in, inspected and then a kit ordered?
I asked, what if someone was planning on a trip in the next few days?
He was like, "damn Chip, let me get back to you."
He's a great service manager, he will call me back.

Stay tuned!

Hey Guys,

Not on the list here  :bananarock:  but did a visual inspection of both wheels and found the chrome starting to peel from the front wheel near the hub on the right side.  I'm not happy!   >:(  Good luck to those of you "on the list."     :2vrolijk_21:

I am planning a trip in a couple of weeks.  Service couldn't get me in until 7/25 which would be too late to get me a wheel if I needed one, so I'm going to take the wheel off myself and take it to them to have it checked.  I think they really just didn't want to tie up a lift until the wheel came in if I needed one.  Still got my 03 SERK so maybe I'll be riding it--hopefully not-but it's ok too.
