103t's Father's Day
« on: June 19, 2005, 11:11:25 PM »

My brother-in-law has a private pilot's license and took us up for a ride in his 1969 Cessna today.  Never been in a plane that small before.  He let me take control of the yoke a couple of times during the 1-hour flight and I was amazed at how only slight adjustments affected the attitude of the plane.  This was a very unique experience and hope to do it again sometime!

From the pics it looks like you guys had a lot of fun Brian.  Here's something to make you go "hmmm" though.  As delicate as you thought the controls felt with all of you aboard; it would seem a night and day difference (even more delicate) to you flying solo.

I have two really vivid memories from when I did my first solo (also in a small Cessna) a long time ago.  The second was how badly I didn't want to come back down but the first was the unexpected feel of the aircraft with the flight instructor aboard.

Oh crap, that was two spit takes and monitor wipe downs in one night  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

If it's ok I'm saving that picture.  Print it out and fold it up inside my logbook.  That was priceless.

103T.....the last pic is PRICELESS!  I'm with 2Lane on that one, with your permission this pic needs a home in my flying photo archives.  It's as good as I've seen in my albums covering almost 40 years of near death experiences.  Thanks for the smiles!

Excellent pics!

reminds me of the time a friend (future Air Force Pilot) took me up in a small plane 24 years ago.  He says, "Do you know how to slow a plane down" and then proceeds to pull back on the stick.  The plane slowed down, but my stomach did not...I held it as long as I could but had to open the door while landing and left a gift on the runway.

I was fine up until that point, going forward...but I can't do the reverse high speed thing.

Yeah, guys, no problem since they're public domain, now.  I thought you might enjoy that one and was just looking for the right response to the first ones to let me put it up.  We laughed our arses of here at home when it loaded for the first time! [smiley=laugh.gif]
