Title: Camera mounted on Road Glide Options
Post by: drgmis16 on December 15, 2019, 09:32:04 PM
Been thinking of mounting a camera on the motorcycle in addition to or in place of one on helmet.  Has anyone done this and where is the preferred location so that it might be somewhat "hidden".  Next is which camera would recommend?  This might be like asking which oil is best or shocks or tires but worth asking about. :confused5:

Rickrack is quality product.  I mount my GoPro on my fairing with on of his mounts, not hidden at all bet gets a good view.  Looking at the mount above so I could also use it on my road king and my fatboy.

Simple mount on windshield bolt plus double sided tape makes it easy to work with camera while riding.

Rickrack x2. I removed the left side windshield bolt, replaced it with stud included with mount and Gopro sits right where i can reach it and looks freaky when viewing videos as looks like I am going to run into cars/bikes coming other way

With the windshield mount, don't you get lots of vibration at idle?  I tried my Go Pro first on the fairing and it did not work well as the idle vibrations were terrible, but it did smooth out just a bit when up to speed.

I kind of like the Go Pro mount in the lower center of the windshield.  Do you get any of the bike in the camera view when recording?

Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!

I have not noticed any vibration at idle. I do not get any of my bike in videos, like I posted, since the Go pro is mounted on the outer left of bike and at eye level, the video is awesome as it looks like you are going to run into on coming traffic until they pass.

its a garmin camera with its own built in GPS. the video is saved separately from the GPS data. garmin has video software that lets you overlay it afterward

Ok, I think it is time i ditch the Gopro. Can you tell me the name of that Garmin camera? and in the bottom right, is that a speedometer? And if so, MPH?

garmin calls it a virb

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/522869

that is a speedo in MPH you can overlay any data you want that the camera has captured.

and the virb case will mount to any any of you existing gopro mounts
