Illuminated Windshield moulding HD 57335-08
« on: December 19, 2010, 08:47:06 PM »

As y'all know by now -- we have matching CVO 09 Ultras --- being seen is a favorite avocation of mine - and the illuminated windshield moulding fits the bill.
If you are not color inhibited and some mechanical ability -- it is not to hard a project.   The parts are packed well and initially kind of scary when removed from the box and seeing a wiring harness without any of the plugs attached.   [ read the instructions before starting to get the overall picture ]
Remove the faring after disconnecting the battery - carefully put it down on a soft place.   Locate the right and left plugs -- look at the colors in each 4 wire bundle and determine the right and left.   Take out the plug and recepticles and match the colors to the corresponding plug.
Drilling the 3/8" hole in your faring requires a tight butt - I drilled the 1/8" hole after marking -- but increased drill size by 1/16" so as not to tear the paint.   I used a rat tail file to finish the hole to the 3/8" size.   With the hole finished I painted the hole edges with clear nail polish to assure that the paint won't peel.
The gasket at the top of the light bar is a little hard to get in place - so I super glued it with 6-8 little drops along the back to hold it in place -- you will know what I mean when you see it.   the gasket makes a great seal for the top of the faring and the windshield.
You get lonnger screws to install it -- but before putting the faring on - and with everything plugged in -- give it a try to be sure all is well.
The light bar -- of the 4 led sections the outer lights blink with the turn signals as well as reacting with the 4 way flashers.
If you do this to your bike - I kknow you will feel good about the results.
Being moderately anal about doing it right the first time -- I did my bike in about 5 hours -- then Catheys bike in a little less than 2 hours.

You can certainly help spend the $$ -- that is a cool idea but I'll bet they are dark colored like the faring mirror covers and the amber doesn't match
