Day 12 | Forest Lake, MN – Duluth, MN

Most of my journey to-date has been filled with overcast skies and today would not be an exception.  Temps have been pleasant and today would bring the upper 60s.  It would be a short ride, which was nice considering the long days I have been having.  This would allow me to check out the Duluth area but it would include some rain.

My first stop would be Enger Tower which stands ~ 530 ft tall and overlooks Lake Superior.

The tower is located in a park, which I enjoyed a local coffee from a truck vendor.  There are some other features of the park of which I did not have time to visit.

Each of the tower’s levels has a lookout and there is a green beacon on the top that can be seen for miles.

At the top, you will be provided with panoramic views of the Twin Ports.

Suddenly some purple smoke appeared!  Did Prince return to his beloved Minnesota?

If you have not already noticed, I like to visit local churches during most of my rides.  Today’s visit was Cathedral of our Lady Rosary.

I had the opportunity to meet the newly ordained priest and discuss the area with him.  A nice young man filled with the hope and joy to spread to his parish.

The organ had just been rebuilt and it was being played during my visit.
