A version of this discussion came up a couple months ago. Dood and I and others I don't remember saw the future and had a chat about Harley doing a truly retro model. Not like these era specific color coated variations but actual retro models. Modern capabilities wrapped around a Panhead looking engine and color and general layout. Something like that rather than these not-necessarily-bad-but-half-assed-retro-looking models would be a truer Gestalt-retro offering than just taking the old color palettes to the new tins.
Agreed, but HD counts on you to buy all that stuff out of the catalog. A simple search can get you "vintage" floorboards, shifters, grips, bags, spoked wheels, fringe things, fin tipped mufflers, tombstone windshield, old style air cleaner cover, old style horn, and old round mirrors. Then get Joe Zettlemoyer to paint it in vintage colors and there you have it.
