Title: 2005 FLHTCSE2 - CVO Electra Glide
Post by: Clint50 on November 16, 2014, 11:23:01 PM
Anyone own one of these and if so,what do you think of it? I've always liked that particular CVO and have found one with 22K miles, for less than $16K. Anything I need to watch out for before the purchase?
TIA

I have one. It is a great bike. One of the best built in my opinion.
22K is not much mileage. These engines are very durable. One problem they have is cam tensioners, they need to be checked/replaced around 30k miles.
What color is the one your looking at? You should get a chopped tour pack with it.
There were some chrome issues back then. Check the chrome on the wheels and the engine.
Other than that, just look it over good.
 Good luck.

The 05 SEEG is my favorite.

Chrome peeling on the front wheel.

I had one since new and just recently sold it with over 82k km = 51k miles on the dial.

Just to put your mind at ease, I had no problems at all over the 10 years of riding it.

I sometimes think that I should have kept that beauty and said goodbye to my '08 Duracell???

At least I made my friend who bought it incredibly happy!

I bought mine 2 years ago from a previous customer, who let the bike sit at a beach condo.
I used a 17" Thunderstar front wheel, matching aftermarket polished rotors, and an aftermarket trans/hydraulic clutch end cover. Clutch cover is 1/3 of the MoCo price. If you go back to 8-12-13 in this section (page 3), you can see the condition I got the SEEG in.

Got the 05 cherry. Love it. Broke a push rod at 31,000. Before then it was the best and fast too with the redshift 575 cam. So since I tore it down, sent top end to Dave makie. He put the do do to it!! Now it is a 107 and needs a seat belt. Tony

did not take pictures. should have. was ideling when it started to tick, shut it off but was too late.I was in line to park at the big Harley shop in Daytona. Had to trailer it from there, how embarrising. Had to tear top end down to retrieve the push rod pieces. So decided to have top end redone. Really Really fast now!!! Best we could tell was that the alumium push rod failed!!

I love my banana glide. I bought my 05 in late 06 with only 5k on the clock. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I almost never use the tour pack, but instead have a high sissybar with a large pad for the mrs... She love riding on the back as much I love the front.

Its bone stock except for a SE big air filter kit, hog tunes speakers and LED lights all around. Runs great, never had any issues. This summer may see a 6-speed baker kit, but other than that it does everything I ever asked of it.
